Update: I have actually found that it will boot up just fine from a cold boot. If I have to hit reset, it fails to recognise the drive, but if I power all the way down, it boots as normal. Probably the caps, don't you think?

Anyone had probs w/ Abit KR7A-133R?
I can't see any visible signs of deterioration, but the thing sometimes fails to recognize the HDD on boot. Always fails on a reset. Have to power down and back up. I guess it could be the drive. Checked the cables and they're all good. My kid found that if you give the box a slight whack when starting up, it detects the drive every time, so could just be the drive failing. Symptoms are very indicative of cap failure, though.

Capacitor values.
For all you high-speed, low-drag individuals, a couple of questions.
When replacing capacitors, should the exact voltage be used, or can it be slightly different?
Also, if anyone knows the values of the ceramic chip capacitors just above the socket on a 7VRXP rev. 1.1, could you let me know? I have one that looks a little flaky. I'll try to post a pic later, so you can see the one I'm talking about.

Correct me if I'm wrong. VRM = voltage regulating MOSFET
These are the small squarish chips that are usually lying flat on the board with 2 leads on one side, located in the general vicinity of the socket and the caps. They get HOT under normal conditions. If one of those blew, you'd probably be able to see where the board underneath was discolored. Like it was burned.

Does anyone have a GOOD RMA system?
Better to do it yourself, so you know what replacement caps are used. I don't think they will be using top of the line stuff through the RMA system.

Heeeyyyyy.....
I never thought of it that way. Sorry honey, the board is shot....gotta get a new one...Dude, you are a genius!
Actually, I'll try to re-cap mine before and if it works, just kind of lose it in the attic until a few months down the road.
