  • I just noticed that I damaged the 33 Ohm resistors while using the clip to read and write to the SPI Flash chip. The traces are still there so I will use the resistors from a donor board and report back. ...

  • Lenovo T480 Not Detecting 1 RAM slot

Hi I have a T480 motherboard i7 no gpu that no matter what I do it doesn't detect a RAM module (the one closest to the 2nd internal battery)

The RAM Slot looks good though.

I know that there's some 0 ohm resistors on the t480S that can get damaged and the internal RAM gets disabled. Or that if the RAM goes bad these can be desoldered to disable the internal memory.

Does anyone know if is the same behavior on the T480? I suspect some resistors could've gone bad since it doesn't detect any RAM module I install, and it still posts but just reading half the...

  • Thinkpad T480s No Power after BIOS Flash / Won't power with original Dump either

Hi I purchased a t480s with 16GB RAM and an i7 for very cheap.
The laptop worked fine, posted and booted to BIOS. I flashed a known working Libreboot image with a T48 and it wasn't posting.

I recompiled / rebuilt the image and tweaked libreboot build process a little bit and still wasn't posting. I flashed the original BIOS and it posted fine just once. So hardware must be fine.

I kept trying to make it post with the libreboot firmware and it wasn't working, despite the images working fine on i5 motherboards.... and now after flashing the original lenovo dump is...

  • Can someone help me get the schematic for the i7 board? 12800H is totally dead, no lights, nothing.
I noticed the back part it has some burned components.
I found this one that has burnt: U2405 and seems like also U2406. But by the pictures it looks fine

Or if I could pull the same components from other part of the board to test, I don't have a donor board.

  • The BIOS that worked for me was on the reply #17 of this post:

That's the direct link just so I don't upload a duplicate file

  • Hello, I had a dead 3080 Micro (No video, no lights, no fan spin) and I flashed the bin above, it worked and I could write the service tag now, however the computer takes a very long time to start. Upwards of 15 seconds to show video output and the dell logo.
Also it shows the error "TPM Not Found" I tried to remove the CMOS Battery, held the power button for 30 seconds and the BIOS settings reverted to factory, Absolute was enabled and TPM was visible in the BIOS.
I disabled Absolute, rebooted and TPM is not showing in the BIOS anymore but I don't get the error in the picture...

Try with a different programmer. I flashed the CHPB Variant and it let me update the bios & firmware to the latest version using the RCV file.
I only have one problem where the power on light doesn't stay on. It only turns on when I press the button to power the machine on, but the lights remain off....

I tried one and the computer booted (before it would have no video and a high speed fan) but the BIOS says "Unidentified System" where the model should go.
Mine is the DDR5 with a full sized - standard dell charger
    I think there's a DDR4 variant also.

Edit: I tested both variants and in both it says "Unidentified System"

Edit: After updating to the latest BIOS, and pressing Alt + F on boot, I got the menu to select between the Regular Optiplex 7000 Alder Lake or the China Version with HDD Protection. ...

  • I am aware of REX's patch, it works wonderfully; but I meant reverse engineer the master password... not modify the contents of the BIOS flash chip....

  • I just thought about it, and decided to give it a good 'ol google search... and comes along your post on the 3rd result lol
Have you had any progress? I mean it shouldn't be impossible or if I could take a guess at least, something that has been done before.

I found there's people on the fleabay selling you a master password for 75 dollars, and has over 180 combined sales so far... Also in the BIOS of all of these newer models the "Master Password Lockout" option still exists. Which means they have a master password.

    Just my 2 cents.

  • I've been a lurker for years, but I never got to login or create an account. I guess is worth it, to help other people.

A little bit about me? Well I am a systems administrator and in my free time I like to mess with older devices, such as routers, desktops or laptops.
