Re: About test equipment that i needed
Very true: If a tech can fix my car with one tool versus 20, than to me he's a better tech, however if that same tech has to return for something missed because of not making a correct diagnosis due to not having the correct test equipment, then he or she should not be repairing. ...

Re: About test equipment that i needed
For years when repairing electronic equipment, I used only a fluke meter. Hardly ever did I use the companies oscilloscope or ESR meter. I actually feel the same as today about that, as I did then. But to get a true repair diagnosis, all those items that you listed is required. I would really want to think that soon all electronics will come with their own diagnostic circuits built-in, and in some cases its already here. However I do find myself wanting something more than needing something.

Re: Onkyo TX-NR616 won't stay powered on
I would change out the whole preamp if you can. I played around with a carver receiver that was very similiar. hopefully all that happen was the cap blew which took out the output, but if your luck is like mine the whole preamp took a dump. good luck.

Re: Emerson LC320EM2 not powering up
I ran into this train wreck last month. and the only conclusion I made is not the one your looking for, I never found the true problem, so I tossed it. Got to be to much time invested for such a small set. I replaced everything that I could find defective and still no power, same as yours it kept blowing the zeners. Sorry I couldn't be of any help.

Re: Can anyone Identify these boards?
The small board is the light that it needs just in case the bulbs sit for to long and can't restart by themselves.

Re: LG 60PK540 has audio, but no video
However without a scope to determine all the voltages are present would be the only way for me to make decision, whether it his is panel or not. However it is rare occasion that plasma panel fail for no video, but I have seen it. Just dont keep thinking that it is not your panel, cause even if it is your y-sus or x-main just remember what there driving.

Re: LG 60PK540 has audio, but no video
I say after replacing all those boards and you still are not receiving video that you have to blame the panel at that point, although it is impossible to have or purchase a panel just to verify this problem. Don't spend anymore time or money on the thing in MHO.

Re: LCD panel breakdown??
No doubt it is the Panel, the question remains what caused it, By looking at it carefully I would rule out that it did this itself, something or someone had to have hit this with some force. The ones that I've seen are the ones that were hit by Wii controllers and beer bottles. Its just funny how, even as mad or drunk as you can get, your still able to find the center of the screen. lol

Re: Sony 46" kdl46v160 problem
Me and guy at work did one 3 months ago by using chocolate (The heat absorber) cramming the chocolate between the case and ribbon. We leave it here at the shop and run it and has not acted up once. Good luck with it, but without replacing the whole Panel I don't know no other way.

Re: Sharp LC42a63m
It's almost sorda impossible to determine on exactly where the problem is located by the information given. First why was the SMPS needed to be replaced, was it totally Bad. Pictures of the back of TV helps us to determine closely on what to look for. I personally do not like to use other models of SMPS to fix a television. However in your case your one step ahead of the game by finding an alternative SMPS. Now again Pictures and Voltages can give us enough to help. BTW welcome to the forum.

Re: Help with 42PFL5432D/37
It won't hurt to getting another PS, I don't know what your budget is, however if buying the PS for cheap could atleast answer more to what other problems the set may have, maybe the direction you may want to go.

Re: Help with 42PFL5432D/37
I think the TV was hit by lightning or some type of power surge, me personally I don't continue working on sets that were damage under these conditions. What may happen is you may fix the TV but all the rest of the parts have taken some of the surge. But on the bright side is that you may fix the set and you will have a good working set. Good luck with this.

I'll need the rest of your model code and the version of the set it should be on the side.

Re: Samsung LN-46A530 issues with HDMI
I remember these LCDs Running very HOT, and it seem like everytime it was the hard to find T-con giving problems. But definitly does not sound like your issue. First thought was upgrade, but if that didn't fix it then it would be your main board intermittly giving you this problem. You can try the system reset first. Keep us informed.

Re: Have I been sold a faulty T-con
Yes, if you have replace the T-con and results the same then Panel was the problem originally. Sometimes I have been able to manipulate by Jamming something behind the TCP ribbon cable thats causing the Bad connection. However its not Permanent fix.
