Re: Whats the best brand of non-japanese capacitors?
Well, I don't believe those industry leaders will use fake or relabeled chips.
Also, if the circuit is in the critical part, it is the core technology no matter how basic its principal is.
I don't think they will ever use a single circuit board that's made in a Chinese factory, if the board is going to be used in weapons or military vehicles....

Re: Whats the best brand of non-japanese capacitors?
If they had outsourced the circuit boards to Chinese factories, the boards would not only be filled with remarked rubbish chips, but also leak the design to Chinese people. If they decided to use Chinese electronic devices in their weapon, then "WTF are the IQC people doing" one more time....Last edited by Travis; 11-11-2011, 08:35 AM.

Re: Is this ManYue's X-CON polymer cap?
So these purple (and sometimes in red) polymers are also X-CONs right?

Re: Whats the best brand of non-japanese capacitors?
Don't forget we still have "bigger ones" such as EPCOS (is it owned by Japanese now?), KEMET, Vishay and AVX (sadly now it has become "AVX Kyocera"). There are hi-end electrolytic capacitor companies outside Japan that still present in audio devices, though they're seldom used in general electronic devices and SMPS.

Re: Whats the best brand of non-japanese capacitors?
Why should a National Defence contractor buy QPL parts across the pacific ocean rather than buy from qualified manufacturers and distributors? What is the job of IQC? Why don't they reject the old/remarked components from the beginning? Tons of retired weapons and devices are disassembled and sold as electronic wastes to China, and now politicians complain about their getting back into there place again? Yes the Chinese government can help stopping this business, but why should they be responsible for the quality...Last edited by Travis; 11-08-2011, 08:18 PM.

Need help identifying these "polymer" caps
See attachment below. This type of capacitor used to appear on MSI's LGA775 motherboards. The motherboard taken as an example is P31 Neo-F and you can see them in CPU's VRM output stage:

http://detail.zol.com.cn/picture_index_144/index1434819_2385_p126373.shtml
Sometimes they're replaced by OST's RLA series (in blue sleeve) electrolytics so I suspect they aren't polymers?

Re: Is this ManYue's X-CON polymer cap?
Sorry for bumping this old thread out...
Because the one in the datasheet with a ULR marking doesn't look quite the same as the capacitor on the left in the following picture:

Re: Question about MOVs
The MOVs there are to protect primary components from excessive input voltage (like when you turn the voltage selector switch to "110V" but plug it to a 220V line). They're rated at ~200V and will conduct above this point. If they hold on for a while before breaking up, the fuse will blow, protecting the primary circuit.
In the end you have two MOVs and a fuse blown, which are easy to replace, instead of primary caps, primary switchers, bridge rectifiers or so(spreading e'lytic everywhere and causing fire probably).

Re: Is this ManYue's X-CON polymer cap?
But the ULR series I've seen (on ATI HD4850 reference boards) doesn't look like that. It carries a "ULR" marking.

Re: Is this ManYue's X-CON polymer cap?
But I cannot find any info on ManYue's website.

CWT-made high-end PSUs use this MUCON brand on the output. It's MUCON's MX series. I can't find info of that brand. Can someone help me

Re: Help identifying these caps?
Elite's CS CON... APAQ's AP-CON...
VERY useful info, many thanks to everyone.
