Samsung Plasma PN5046084D flashing picture with sound
Found this plasma TV. It will turn on with chime, but picture is a flashing dark static with sound, which I hope is a good sign that the panel is good? Voltages test in the correct range except for Vscan. Assuming it's a bad Y main, but looking for some help confirming or troubleshooting which component(s) might be bad.
Also, assuming that small solder blob was where I was supposed to check VSC?

Re: Yamaha YST-SW216 Subwoofer
Turns out both had a bad STK404. Replaced them in both and now both are working. Thanks everyone for the help.

Re: Yamaha YST-SW216 Subwoofer
Would it hurt anything to pull the 404 and measure the voltage with it out of the circuit?

I do get a hum if I touch that resistor and i thought about touching up the soldering. Will try that this weekend....

Re: Yamaha YST-SW216 Subwoofer
I'd like to eventually get both working, but I'm not against taking parts from one to get the other working. I've used the schematic to check voltages, but everything seems good enough, to where I thought Id post here for guidance on what to systematically check. The voltage on units 2's STK 404 make it look like it's fried?

Re: Yamaha YST-SW216 Subwoofer
I switched the audio boards between the two to see if that made any difference. It sounded exactly the same.

Yes, I have +13.9 and -13.9, if that is close enough....

Re: Yamaha YST-SW216 Subwoofer
Here are the pics of the two boards. Out of the two, this is the only one that will output audio (on both the relay clicks on). I was thinking of switching the input board to see if that made any difference on this one, but didn't want to risk breaking anything else.
The driver sounds fine....

Yamaha YST-SW216 Subwoofer
Got two of these (both defective) for $5. Was troubleshooting and I'm stumped. For the one that outputs sound, it has some bass, but is extremely scratchy. Here are the voltages and service manuals if anyone can give me any tips on what to check next. I have pictures of the boards, but all the components on both look perfect, but let me know and I'll upload.

Re: LG 60PA6500 Burning Z sustain board
Thanks tom66! Clean the standoffs and don't have the smell anymore over the last several days. Seems like this might have done the trick. Appreciate the help!...

Re: LG 60PA6500 Burning Z sustain board
Ok, there was a lot of burning around the screw holes so maybe that's what's causing the charred smell now as it heats up. I'll try cleaning them up to see if it helps....

Re: LG 60PA6500 Burning Z sustain board
The TV screen was replaced by LG before I got it. Did they maybe put the pad in the wrong place? Is there a picture of where it would go on this set, so I can confirm it's in the right place?...

Re: LG 60PA6500 Burning Z sustain board
Thats the first board and after I removed the screws that were arcing, so the TV would turn on. The current board (and the previous) does have all of the screws in place....

LG 60PA6500 Burning Z sustain board
This LG keeps having the same issue with the Z board arcing over the two mounting points (or burning from behind). I first assumed that it was just an issue with the first board that killed the TV and after replacing it and having the TV work fine for 3 days, it happened again. I'm on my third board and it smells like it might be getting toasty again. I checked all the voltages and they are in spec, not sure what else to check at this point....

Re: eMachines E211H B / Acer E211
Since I don't think this is two seconds to black, can someone give some guidance? Like should I change the filter caps first? I don't want to go through recapping when that might not be the source.

Re: eMachines E211H B / Acer E211
I will get the no signal displayed regardless if it's been on a long time or which computer it's plugged into if I unplug the vga connector. Also I am getting 5 and 3 volts from the logic board.
Does this sound like a bad logic board or main board caps?

eMachines E211H B / Acer E211
I have an eMachines monitor (appears under Windows as an Acer E211), that will have the screen flash on and off (I can't see anything with a flashlight), while the power button stays on and blue. The very odd thing is that this immediately happens when I hook it up to my Mac. It takes a while longer for it to happen on a Windows Machine, especially if I use straight VGA connector without a DVI adapter.
Looking for some guidance as what to check next.
Thanks!...
