Re: 52PFL5704D/F7 dead except for click when power cord attached...
I replaced the SSB and the LVDS (left the new power supply in there, so I am not sure if it needed it or not, but I suspect not.) and it worked. Had to do some looking for a LVDS. Based on some help from a local TV guy who has been in the business in a while, if you pull the plug on the LVDS and the screen comes up, at least the LVDS is bad. My experience was the same as yours. That is why I replaced the LVDS. The SSB was definitely bad. I also suspect the LVDS killed the SSB.
My $.02. Also my $.02,...

Re: 52" philips tv
I suspect you may have multiple problems. I have been working on the same kind of set and here is my $.02. Replaced the main/SSB with one from ShopJimmy (real good place to deal with, BTW) and ended up replacing the power supply too. Came up for a very short time, then dead again. With an assist from a local TV guy that has been the business for a while, tracked it to the T-Con. After looking for a couple of weeks, a T-Con popped up at DiscountTVParts.Com. With all three boards replaced it works. It won't work with the old main board. Did not try it with...

Looks like I am in the hunt for a T-Con board also. Any other thoughts?

Re: 52PFL5704D/F7 dead except for click when power cord attached...
Been out of town for a little while but while I was gone the SSB/main board came in. I installed it a couple days ago. Went through the setup/SSB configuration just as the parts place said (bought it from ShopJimmy's). It configured just fine. Pulled the power cord to load it and had a bad feeling. Before I sent it home with my son, just for grins I tried to power it up again. It went back to doing the exact same thing. Little blue light for about a second or two and then only a click. No power. I looked at the...Last edited by Mel D.; 05-12-2012, 04:46 PM.

That is a real nice meter too. I used one for a while. I have one that is a hangar queen, nice to look at, not much good to use. Got me a 260 from the friend of a friend, now to tune it up a bit....
Gave up and ordered an SSB. We'll see....

Re: 52PFL5704D/F7 dead except for click when power cord attached...
Interesting contradiction here. The PL9 schematic posted above shows that it applies to the 52PFL5704D/F7, but the photos, cable designators and the troubleshooting info does not match. The one noted as applying to the 3704 appears to be a much better match.
In any case, I did get some pictures of the underside of teh power supply board, not very good ones I am afraid. The green is playing heck with my autofocus and I can't seem to do much better in manual focus. Just not enough light. I will play...

Re: 52PFL5704D/F7 dead except for click when power cord attached...
Re-checked the 12V. They are indeed .6V with reference to the metal chassis structure. PSON is 0.0V and stays that way even when the power button is pushed. Took a pic of the board and the black wires. Getting the power supply board off to see the back side and check the red fuse will have to be tomorrow evening. 0500 comes early after a day of honey-dos....

52PFL5704D/F7 dead except for click when power cord attached...
Hello,
First thing, thanks for any help you can give. I have a Philips 52PFL5704D/F7 that clicks when the power cord is plugged in and has no other indication of power getting to the unit (no LEDs, etc.). The set is about 2 years old, has not led a hard life (only on 5 or 6 hours a day) and just did not power up one day. The manual ON/OFF switch does not do anything and the remote does not also. I downloaded what appears to be the relevant the service manual from the Elektrotanya.com site (It shows 52PFL3704d, but the boards in their pictures look identical to me…). Got the back off...Last edited by Mel D.; 04-15-2012, 12:45 PM.

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hello,
Found this forum looking for info on a Philips LCD (more on that in the TV section later!). Was on a bench for a while back during the Citizens Band craze after a vocational degree in Radio and TV. Ended up going back and getting my BSEE about 30 years ago. Been shuffling paper doing engineering management since then. I still try to keep my hand in the repair bucket from time to time but technology changes so darn fast I can't keep up very well. Analog stuff I am just fine with. FPGAs, processors, etc. not so much....Last edited by Mel D.; 04-15-2012, 09:41 AM.
