Southbridge ? VGA is not embeded and when tested is not connected.
Fan is not spining when it turns on . Could it be faulty fan or thermal sensor ?

Acer aspire 5920g
Acer aspire 5920g charges battery , blue ring light up . When power button pressed it turns on (no fan spins) and off after 1 second. Tried even naked motherboard (no memory,cpu,modem,cmos bat,vga card) but the same result. Found some common (on this model) capacitors shorted and replaced with no success. Any ideas ? -

I have a toshiba u400 that turns on for 1 sec and immediately off . When you connect the power adapter, battery seem to charge (charge light is on) . I took apart everything and found that if I remove the processor laptop power stays on . Tried different processor , problem the same . It doesn't have any nec/tokin caps on cpu socket . Any ideas ? -

You could try another working inverter and an lcd cable as 'heavymachines' suggested.
Working good on external monitor doesn't always mean that there isn't a problem with the graphics chip (very rarely but it happens) .Leave a comment:

These two black components are inductors .It looks like melted solder (someone messed with it ?). Have you checked the voltage of power adapter ? If no voltage comes out from dc jack then you should resolder it or replace it .Leave a comment:

Connect to external screen and see if it shows any picture . If yes , you have to take apart the screen and look for loose vga cable . Is it a led screen or a ccfl ?
If cable ok you should try a new screen or an inverter (if it's a ccfl) .
Does windows load while you don't see anything on screen ? (watch for hdd led and windows welcome sound)Leave a comment:

Samsung 710 when opened chasis found 3 buldged capacitors . 2x 1000uF , 1x 330uF (circled in red on picture 1). After recap , a ticking sound is heard and power light flashes on/off rapidly . Any help ?... -
