I already took this Laptop apart and clocked down the CPU.
Can I update Window 10 free or it is going to mess up my computer again?

Has anyone had problems heating the Solder it seems like it takes to long. I have used a candle with better results.

Candle place board on aluminum shield and then pull bad capacitors when hot. Is it the solder gun I have or what it is 30w but it is not the best.

  • 79044120 Dell Monitor

I got this monitor and check used my multi meter to check the volts on the caps. I put my meter to 200 Ohms and then to DCV 20 so I could see the volt drop. I do not have a cap wizard or hany expensive tools like that.

I want to get this monitor running lets see does anyone know what is a common part to go. I see cap kits for this board for $12 I could buy a used monitor of the same linkness at a thrift show for that of less.

So looking for cost effectiveness I also plan to use this screen maybe hook up to my Phone or something.

    Micro usb to hdmi...

  • Overheading

I have a old laptop that has been overheating so I changed the cpu settings to run at 70% while not running on the battery.

    It runs better now, thanks.

So lets see I have lots of updates is the windows 10 free for or will it ask me for something when I make all the updates? I had Windows Vista and now I am running Windows 7.

I want to get this working well, I also got a fan for the bottom of the computer laptop and a stan where I can put Ice Packs if it is really hot.

  • Re: Thinking of buying bad Harddrives

The inconsistent power supply , blackouts , etc. can blow fuses. I turned on I have heard of the voltage regulator fuse blowing after a storm.

Check areas Craig's list after storms tornatoes ect people sell stuff for less $.

    Broken HD

Diagnose of hard drive is a important first step in fixing. Knowing the cost of the hard drive, cost of parts and your time should be factored into the final price. You should get the hard drive no more then 20% of the total value for the finished product. This leaves profit to be made. Any changes you make could in fact cause some data loss if the platters are for the damaged.

Can you boot Linux from a 'live' CD and run the computer well? If so, this may indicate the problem is in the Hard Drive....

  • Re: Crt might be overheating

I re-soldered every joint that did not have a shine. The bottom of my board looks mint. I am going to hold off on the fan and holes for now, I hope it runs normal from now on.

My monitor is getting old I use it on my back room system. I have a big screen Sony lcd also. I want to wait for 3D monitors to come down and work the bugs out. My CRT has clear picture most of the time I can't see putting up my money yet when I need to pay off loans....

That sounds cool have you ever seen a monitor with it own cooling system or would the power it takes to run the system make more heat then it is cooling down.
I had bad solder joint but the only time my screen would cut out is if I have the back plastic on. When I took the back plastic off everything would run fine.
I still get like a green yellow haze over the screen I am not sure why other then bad joint. Could it be damage from the discolored board?...

Yes thanks for the help, I when and did everything everyone posted, but it seems that my board was getting hot near the flyback and I had bad solder joints.
This thread I wanted to start because I would like to stop my monitor from over heating. I think it runs better out of the plastic weird enough so I plan on research monitor cooling....

Well my monitor runs great out of the plastic back. But when I put the monitor together it would get hot and then turn off. I looked at the board and I can see some burns or heat discoloring, IDK. I think that the monitor should have a better vented case....

  • Re: Picture squeezed in then died

It had to settings 15W and 30W it works well I re-soldered most bad joints today. I noticed a darkness to some areas of the board. I cleaned it all up and looks better. I took some pictures but I can't get any that are bright enough.

I put the plastic back on the monitor today still running good I think you were right the solder needed to be redone. Thanks

I had the screen squeeze one time but it turned back on in a splint second and is working fine. I plan to do some more soldering. And tips I do not have a solder...

    Hey Momaka,

Thanks for the help and sorry for the other thread. The other thread is about running the monitor without the plastic cover. Which I am doing right now and have no problems with the monitor.

Thanks I saw some questionable solder joints on the main board. I have a Radio Shack special it have a low and high setting. I do not have a solder sucker I was thinking of how to remove the solder. What about Q-tips?
I will let it heat up good and I will get some pictures of the board.

    Hello
I have been looking at the solder joints where I can I took the plastic cover and the monitor runs fine.

I want to avoid Removing the CRT Circuit Board From the Bottom of the CRT Neck. I could take pictures of the solder on the bottom of the Circuit Board. Would the monitor work with out the case if it was just a solder joint?...

  • Re: CRT Squeeze Horizontally (Over Heating)

Test two running monitor without back for 4 to 5 hours. I did the same test yesterday for 7 to 8 hours with positive results. The CRT ran like it was not broken and like new.

  • Re: Picture squeezed in then died

    Hello again everyone,

Well today I did a more trials on the CRT. I have found that running the monitor till it shuts off then taking the case off makes the CRT work again from a dead screen.

This is funny because I has worked 2 times and I have measured the time in which it takes to be ready to restart and I can unplug take cover off and re plug everything in less time and have the monitor work.

So what is wrong is my back case the problem I ran my monitor all day yesterday with no case I found it running...

I have ran my monitor without the back and it did not turn off any idea why this would happen.

Also I sometimes get a green tint then it is fine.
