Re: Dell XPS M1530-Shorting out Adapter
u42 pins 1,2,3 short to ground.............cant test voltage as adapter keep shorting out and i dont have dc power supply
what you think, u42 short or its a cap nearly, from the schematic arent those pins positive???Re: Dell XPS M1530-Shorting out Adapter

Dell XPS M1530-Shorting out Adapter
Got a dell xps m1330,
Seem to be a power protection problem, cant find the source of the short.
The board is shorting out ac adapter when i try to plug in.
Tested U41 and U42 mosfets, they seem ok, C10 capacitor ok too.
Stuck on pg 38 of schematic....any help please??
See link....Will try get some pics

Re: Dell Inspiron 1545 Dead-shorts out adapter
thanks but....
u47- A04407A-GP
that diode seems open, when removed from circuit and power put to motherboard there is no short circuit (light on charger stays on) ....trying to find a suitable replacement....i had found one before and tried but somehow when i soldered it back i had the same short so looking for the exact replacement....

Dell Inspiron 1545 Dead-shorts out adapter
Got a situation here, dell inspiron 1545, shorts out ac adapter. Power
board diode is ok; (verified) tried another power board same result.
I think there is a short somewhere in U47 or U47. Cant measure voltages as once ac adapter is connected the board shorts out.Am i on the right track?? Any guides? Will take sum pics later. Attached my schematic.
U47 =525ohms in one direction A04407A
636ohms in other direction
U46=528 ohms in one direction
1ohm in reverse
is U47 open/shorted?...

Re: Acer Aspire 5750-Dead, No Power or Lights
i replaced PR22...it reads 10ohms, when i give power now it doesnt turn on an after reads 1.5 ohms
now: any 10 ohm resistor i replace at PR22 its destroyedLast edited by kev4eva; 08-19-2013, 12:02 PM.

Re: Acer Aspire 5750-Dead, No Power or Lights
that should be PR22....has a light surface abrasin
PR22= pin 1=18.5v
pin2= 0vLast edited by kev4eva; 08-18-2013, 07:07 PM.

Re: Acer Aspire 5750-Dead, No Power or Lights
thanks i really glad your helping me so far
found pr22 its connected to positive pin of PD5, its closest to it but unlabelled on pcb
PR22= reads 18.5 volts on the one end and o volts on the other
sorry for my noob question but...whats the best range to set my meter on to measure PR22 resistance..2000 ohms??...Last edited by kev4eva; 08-18-2013, 06:35 PM.

Re: Acer Aspire 5750-Dead, No Power or Lights
thanks, suprisingly PD5 = 18.5 volts
trying to locate PR22....i see a resistor i think cud be it but got no labels will try magnify the area an locate it...

Re: Acer Aspire 5750-Dead, No Power or Lights
PQ7 seems fauly so i just replaced it...now
Pins 1-4 =18.5 volts
Pins 5-8= 0.4 volts...... was 0 volts before, hmmm seems something draining current here..so turns out PQ7 not the issue??Re: Acer Aspire 5750-Dead, No Power or Lights

Re: Acer Aspire 5750-Dead, No Power or Lights
havent removed PQ7 as yet, i tried with battery in at PU1 pin 24 is 0.2volts and pins3 en is 0.3 volts
PU2 doesnt switch on as no voltages there, i will remove PQ7 shortly and update you...Last edited by kev4eva; 08-18-2013, 09:21 AM.

Re: Acer Aspire 5750-Dead, No Power or Lights
PU2- 5v and 3v regulator
0 volts on all those pins.....input an output....so i think the voltage is cut off somewhere before here whether at the second fet PQ7 ?
PQ7 -18.5 volts pins 1-4 then 0 volts on the others pins...Last edited by kev4eva; 08-18-2013, 08:13 AM.
