Re: LG 52LB5DF-UC Screen color washed out
The two capacitors I changed were on the power supply board. I marked them in red on the photo, they were 220uF 25v.
I'm pretty sure, to almost positive that it's the Tcon board; I hooked everything back up and tried the cold spray, nothing changed at all. I figured I didn't really have anything to loose, so I heated all the IC solder points up with a heat gun. Now the TV is working almost great again, except for the right side where there is some ghosting. Tried reseating the cables but that didn't help. (Photo enclosed)...

Re: LG 52LB5DF-UC Screen color washed out
I unplugged the small dimming ribbon from the tcon and it didn’t make a difference if it was plugged in or not. Just to make sure I was doing the right thing, the dimming ribbon cable is the small cable on the left side of the tcon board?
Thanks for your help,

A friend gave me this TV a few weeks back; it has been sitting at his house for awhile. When I got it home, I hooked it up and everything looked great. Within the hour, the screen went white and the colors were all washed out. It also had some coil or cap whine. When I opened it up, I found a couple of small bulged caps....

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Another new guy here, but a long time lurker, these forums are full of so much good information. I’m an electrician at a cement plant; I maintain switch gear, electric motors, run conduit and those sorts of things. Like most people here, I like to tinker, see how things work and hopefully fix a few things too.
