Re: Sharp Aquos LC-46D64U stand by with new boards!
Well it sounds like yours isn't as far gone as mine is! I wasn't able to even get it to boot to the input.
I bought a replacement main board and it too had a red blinking light, where the original didn't. Still, I don't think that means it has a bad main board, just that there is an error somewhere, and the main board recorded it.
Again, I gave up on fixing mine, due to the fact that the LCD panel is worth more to replace than buying a new TV. If you can see any picture at all,...

Re: Vertical Lines Repairable? LC-46D64U
I was not able to answer the questions on the post about my non-working TV, due to the fact that the TV was at the repair man's shop. I got it back yesterday, and was told that it had a bad panel.
I looked on eBay and found the same model TV, hoping that it would have a good panel that I could swap with my TV's bad panel....

Re: Vertical Lines Repairable? LC-46D64U
Yes, the power light comes on, but throws an error. I can get it to boot into service menu (or so I believe), but there is no picture. I have another thread open on this TV. I was hoping to take the panel out of my non-working TV and put it into the one that I was thinking of buying off of eBay.
I have replaced the power supply board, the main board, and the tuner board, but it still doesn't boot with any picture/sound....

A Sharp Certified technician.
I still think the panel on my non-working TV is good (not cracked, and was working fine one day, and dead the next. A panel doesn't just die completely like that, does it? I thought if the whole thing fails to display a picture, that is most likely an internal board issue, and not the panel itself....

Re: Vertical Lines Repairable? LC-46D64U
I was told it wasn't worth trying to fix, but new TV's are out of my price range right now, and my non-working TV has some really good specs to it - I want to bring it back to life if I can, on the cheap....

Re: Vertical Lines Repairable? LC-46D64U
I'm a little confused.
So, there is the glass panel, and that houses the liquid crystal. If the glass is cracked, the liquid crystals are damaged. The T-con board sends signals to the screen and turns on/off the crystals to display the picture. Is there any other board, that can't be seen from the rear of the TV with the panel off, that interacts with the liquid crystals and the T-Con board? I was under the impression that there was another board that behind all the metal (see attachment).
I was hoping...

Re: Vertical Lines Repairable? LC-46D64U
When we say the panel is cracked, we're speaking about the glass, no? Aside from the broken glass, this TV should be working fine, right?
My other TV that I am using for parts has a 100% perfect glass front panel. The only thing wrong with it is the LCD control board/panel, from what I've been told.
So, I should be able to make one good working TV out of the two. Please correct me if I am wrong....

Vertical Lines Repairable? LC-46D64U
I'm looking to buy a TV off of eBay to repair. It has vertical banding (see link or attachments) and what not. I talked with a TV tech about it, and he said, "anything that effects the picture like that, almost 90% of the time, it's the panel, which can't be replaced."
If the banding could be fixed easily, maybe by just replacing some bulging caps and what not, then I would like to purchase it...

Re: Sharp Aquos LC-46D64U stand by with new boards!
So, at this point, the problem can fall under two categories (or a combination of the two).
A) Software/firmware errors which can't be fixed/cleared/flashed via the USB firmware update (possibly due to another board's hardware failure).
B) A hardware failure.
C) Combination of A&B.
As for 'B', the only boards that haven't been replaced, are the 4 inverter boards and the t-con board. The power supply board was replaced, but didn't fix the issue, so I returned...

Re: Sharp Aquos LC-46D64U stand by with new boards!
It does seem to get some power (3v) transferred to it from the tuner board when I check with a meter, but the Power Indicator LED on the USB Thumb Drive that I use, doesn't light up.
There is a small LED on the mainboard itself that blinks. I meant to attach an image of it, but forgot; I have since done so.
The error codes are displayed on the front panel of the TV (Green lights - Power and OPC)
I just tried this in state A & B and...

LCD Boot sequences - Universal?
Hi there.
I was hoping someone could shed some light onto this subject.
When an LCD TV boots up, what is the sequence of components that are booted up. The main board has constant power, so that the power button can be pressed (on remote or panel). From there, what does the main board tell the power board to send power to first? The inverters, the T-Con board, the tuner board?

Re: Sharp Aquos LC-46D64U stand by with new boards!
I know that it seems we're beating a dead horse here, but I'm thickheaded, and also desperate. I just lost my job, and I don't want to drop another 1k on a new TV - I need a new PC before that - so fixing it is a high priority.
Ok, well, here is an update on this.
I bought a matching main board (with the jumpers in the correct placement) and turner board from a working TV that had a broken screen (or so the e-bay seller says so). I also replaced the side panel board where the USB Thumbnail drive is...

Re: Sharp Aquos LC-46D64U stand by with new boards!
The board that I currently have (the newer one, that doesn't exactly match the original), is only stated to be used in my model tv, LC-46D64U
Where as the original one was stated to work in the following:
SHARP LC-52SB57UN
SHARP LC-42D64U
SHARP LC-46D64U
SHARP LC-46D65U
SHARP LC-52D64U
SHARP LC-65D64U
SHARP LC-C4254U
SHARP LC-C6554U
So, you're suggesting that if I look up the firmware for these other...

Re: Sharp Aquos LC-46D64U stand by with new boards!
Ok, I have to admit, in my haste to order new parts, I don't think I took the time to match things 100% - does this matter, I am not sure. Either way, I just double checked everything I had ordered previously, and apologize for not having accurate information earlier.
this was the main board that was in my tv (which isn't in stock):

selldoor, thanks for your participation in this thread. We'll continue without you - or I will, at least.
As far as the firmware update, I can't do this because the board that reads the USB thumbnail drive never gets power.

Re: Sharp Aquos LC-46D64U stand by with new boards!
Sir, I have indeed verified that I had replaced the boards with the correct versions (see post #11 & also #13). I did also set the jumpers to the correct model of TV that I am trying to fix, and noted so in an earlier post (see post #71)....
