I have a Seiki SE39UY04 (yes i know these things are notoriously crappy) and when connected to power the red light (standby) comes on but the tv wont always power on. If i give it a good whack on the back of the unit, it will come on and work fine for hours. It will even turn on and off fine after that until i turn it off and let it sit for a few hours, then the same problem happens. Im thinking it might be some kind of bad connection or bad solder joint somewhere given that a good whack makes it work. I took apart the tv and looked for any obvious signs of bad components but everything looks...

Re: Vizio VS420LF1A Screen/backlight goes off after awhile
The sound does stay on, and i do see the picture on the LCD when i look closely at it with a flash light, so it must be the back light. I turned it on today and it stayed on for several hours with out going out but then it happened. Is it bad inverter or psu issue perhaps? Why does it sometimes work for hours then other times only a few min? Maybe theres a short or something?
Vizio VS420LF1A Screen/backlight goes off after awhile
I have a Vizio VS420LF1A that i had previously posted about here in this forum.
The back light and lcd was not coming on at all, yet the Vizio logo at the bottom was turning white. After testing several components i just gave up and purchased a new (used) PSU off ebay. I connected it and the TV worked great for 2 months or so. Unfortunately now Im having a problem where the tv will come on and work fine, but then the back light and lcd will just turn off (vizio logo still white) sometimes after several hours of use, or sometimes after just a few min. If i turn off the tv and let it sit...
These are the only 2 boards i see, i do see wires running from the PSU to either side of the panel, Im guessing these wires go to the inverters.
I cant see any easy way to get to them, ill have to take the entire panel apart.
I will try to do that if you think it could be an inverter issue.
Ive repaired sets before that have bad inverters and usually im able to see something on the screen when using a flash light and looking very closely, in this case i cant so Im not sure if its an inverter issue or not but you guys...
Ive got a Vizio VS420LF1A and having an issue with it:
When power is connected, Vizio logo glows orange,
i press power button... the logo turns to white and that's it. I see nothing on the screen, i don't see the back light come on, just a solid white Vizio Logo showing its powered on.
I opened it up and looked for the obvious things like bulging/leaky caps
and everything appears ok.
I also took a flash light and tried to look closely at the panel when it was on to see if i could see anything on the screen (like if the back light wasn't working, but...
