  • Re: Benq v2210 Eco - one backlight strip not working

Yeah, I'll be sure to update if anything new happens.
The reason I had to take it to the tech guy is, I have a couple of exams coming up in the very near future and all my study materials are on the PC, which has no monitor. So there's a bigger chance of getting it working sooner so I can start studying.

If I had a replacement monitor, I wouldn't be in such a rush right now damn this student life without a penny to spare on a new monitor...

Red squares around parts I found to be out of spec before handing it over to the "fixer":

R522 - 0 (should be 10K?) - fully shorted out, also small black spot in the middle
    R520 - 16,2K (should be 100K)
    R530 - 14,2K (should be 30K)

I hope those bits are easy to find and cheap to replace :P
Then again, there might be something else wrong with it as well, didn't go over all the pieces....

I am consulting a more technically skilled person today, let's hope he can figure it out. If not, I'll have more time to mess with it later.

The underside of the small green board can't be really accessed since it is soldered onto the larger board, so I can't check the inductors from the connector, but I will try to test their "legs"...

The ICs are ultra small and checking their pins is nearly impossible without a microscope (which I will have access to in the future, but not at the moment)....

Yes, the LED strips are confirmed working. I am 99% sure the problem is within one/some of the surface mount components of the green board. It's just that I have no knowledge of how to identify the faulty component(s)... other than desoldering them one by one and testing them out of circuit, but that's a full week of work for me.

I haven't disassembled the panel to access the LED strips so I don't know how many there are... Removing the metal housing around the panel involves removing the black tape that stops the light from leaking, and I don't have any to put on it after I remove it, so I really don't want to... (unless absolutely necessary).

Alright, thanks for your input so far. I'm calling it a day as well. Will check on the topic in the morning!

Tested working side R507 to ground, also got 17,3v.
I read on page 37 about a 16v, which seems to be the closest to this one.
I'm measuring all voltages without having the backlights connected, otherwise I'd have to remove the backlights from the panel which is dangerous and difficult. Does that make a difference?

EDIT: Tested Pin24 (VREF), which should be 5v by the manual. When connecting C502 on the working side to ground, I get 5V. When I connect C527 to ground, it shows 17,3v again!! What...

Tested it and it showed 17,3v on both sides of the R522 resistor.

Testing the diodes in reverse gives no response (meter stays at 1) with both diodes.

Just double checking, red lead on pin 23 of the IC (or one of the connections on R522), black lead can be connected to the 0 (middle) pin on the power cord connector?
    What should it show?

I tested diodes D501 and D502, both show .301 and thus shouldbe fine.

I tested the 0 rated resistor (was behind the C522 capacitor so can't be seen on the picture), shows 0 resistance, so should be fine.

However, I am not sure how to test Vin. I found the pin23 on chip R502 (faulty side), and it conects to R522 (not R507, which should be on the working side?).
What mode do I select on the multimeter, what does it test and sould the device be running while conducting this test?

First one is a closeup of the backlight controller unit (green), second one is an overview of the whole power supply board.

On the closeup, the part on the bottom, which connects to the bottom header (white) is faulty. The connector above that works as it should.

I went to the local electronics shop and got a 10uF 100V cap, which is identical to the one on the small green board, and replaced it as it seemed like the most error-prone part (C522). This did not...

    Hey guys and gals,

my lovely LED monitor decided to discontinue its (until now) perfect service. Only the top half is brightly illuminated, while the bottom is about 50% dimmer, though still legible.

I dismantled the monitor and tested the 2 LED backlight strips by connecting them to the 2 different sockets on the controller module (dunno how you call it).

I found that both the strips work when plugged into the top socket, and neither work when plugged into the bottom socket. So it seems that the problem lies somewhere in the LED controller.

  • Re: Cambridge SoundWorks CSW 250 subwoofer not working

Got tired of the useless and long testing so I popped the PCB under a microscope and thoroughly checked every connection of every leg on the IC's. And fair enough, managed to find 2 that had cracks on them. Kind of skeptical at first but after re- soldering them, I popped the set together and lo and behold... All is fine and working again!
The potentiometer for the bass was a bit wobbly and the contact was loose in it, so I opened it up and found that the little metal strips were bent, so i rebent them and it worked too!...

    1) I have the working remore controller for it and I use it to turn the speaker set on, so no problem there.

    2) All resistors and caps are visually fine.

    3) The 2 chips attached to the heatsink are Creative ct1975-sam which I looked for in google, but found absolutely no good info about the pinouts
I sent a few e-mails to suppliers asking for pinouts (and free samples just in case ) so we'll see how much they know about their products...

    4) What do you mean by "If...

  • Cambridge SoundWorks CSW 250 subwoofer not working

    Hey there,
New member here with an old speaker set I found in my new apartment. It is a 2.1 system from maybe year 2006.

What I have done: checked the fuse (fine), looked over every piece under a magnifying glass to spot any visible damage (none), tested the subwoofer element on another amp (works great), tested the sub's amp pins with a voltmeter for any signal (got none). So it must be the amp.

The 2 satellites connect to the subwoofer and as I've found, they are run from a separate amp, because I get perfect sound from the little speakers.
