  • Re: LG Monitor cum TV RT-15LA31

I checked supply voltages on most of the ICs, and it seems ok to me, the RESET pin is high on few ICs, could that be the case or anything else?

The screen shows menu etc quite clear, I did previously connected power supply with less Amp and it didnt even broght the screen, so used another higher Amp one and that is fine in lighting the screen so ext PS is ok as the Menu etc is seen quite clear without any prob.
The display does bring light but no details of source like pc etc so its not dark as if a fault in inverter, not like that (CCFL lights up and stays on).
Sorry m8 dont have a good camera and due to inhouse lighting couldnt get much clear pic, will try sometime in day...

    my dear friend selldoor
Q: Check the fuse ( F1 small white) on the inverter board.
A: The fuse on the inverter board is fine, I have checked it, its located near the connector.

Q: Check all cables plugged in firmly - which is the one to the panel?
A: The one on the right bottom is the power connection to the onboard power plug (black + red) as I did not have similar power pin adapter so just soldered another 12V power cable to it.

Q: Can you get to the panel end of it - is there another board?...

Inverter board is fine, its working properly now as the flickering is sorted, so no problem with the inverter.
Now the problemis with the Main Board. None of the inputs are producing any signals.
A/V, PC, S-Video - none bring any signal on the display. All remains blank.

I was rushing out so couldnt post any pics, I will put the pics 1st thing tomorrow morning.
Anyways out of curiosity even if the cpapcitor was ot looiing bad I changed it and it gavw continuous display without flicker.

But now it does not show the PC input, even if the cable is connected and changing the monitors source to PC, it does not show the PC display.

  • LG Monitor cum TV RT-15LA31

    Hello

Got this one to repair. The symptoms are, it flickers when turned on and keeps flickering. Opened the back cover but couldnt find any bad cap. This one requires 12V DC external supply, I did not have one so used a computers power supply and connected dc jack to it to power up the Monitor/TV.

It fired up but the screen shows plain raster with continuous flicker. Thought of bad CCFL as well, I had spare CCFL from some TV so used that to check it, the good CCFL were also flickering. The inverter has OZ960 chip, and 2 CCFLs.

As I have 2 extra CCFLs...

  • Re: Samsung Plasma PS43D450 with cracked screen

    Hi tom
You are right that board might not fail, but unless I wouldnt have noticed the burnt part on the panel which is a bit too long 3 inches long, I wouldnt have doubted on any board, which obviously means the short circuits were quite strong and lasted for a while in turn it might be possible of some damage to the board.

  • Samsung Plasma PS43D450 with cracked screen

    Hi

As I am new to this Plasma thing and to learn a little bit extra on what and how, I bought this Samy plasma with broken screen cheap so that I could understand some bits of it.
When I bought this, the guy said he had seen the display (but I doubt it).
At his house when he connected the power to the tv it made cracking - loud buzzing noise and - no display.
While I was bringing it to my place in the car, I smelt a little burning thing & doubted if it was from my car, but it was not. Reaching home I checked the panel and it was cracked quite much and at...

  • Re: Panasonic Plasma TX-P42ST31B - broken screen

I have now connected all the boards and cables, kept note of all voltages at various test points, here are those..

The details are of 2 conditions, once power on and then the voltage levels in next 15-20 sec...
    SN Board:
    # VSUS 207v in 15-20 sec it goes down to nearly 9,8,7 etc to 0
    # TPVAD 74.... 0
    # TPSOS6 4.28... 0
    # TPSOS7 0.66 ... 0

    SS Board:
    # TPSOS8 5.. 0
    # TPVe 155... 0
    # TPSS1 (H.V. Dnager point) 40... 0
    # VeRef1 ...

I had removed all the boards for inspection for any short etc but couldnt find anything so I need to connect all that again, once connected and checking the voltage I will update here soon.
For some basic understanding I was just going through some service manuals and with your knowledge I could understand those names for the boards, yes it does say SN, A, SS, C1 & C2.

There is no printed mark or sign for "Vsus" (or "Va" or "Vs" like other plasma power supplies) anywhere on this power board?
As you can see from above pic there is only 1 cable with 2pins going from Power supply to "sc+su+sd = SN board (left board), should I check the voltage there?...

    Thanks tom66 for the info.

If the screen is broken, is there any way to check which boards are working, like by disconnecting any connectors and checking voltages at any test points?...

  • Panasonic Plasma TX-P42ST31B - broken screen

    Hi guys

I am new to Plasma & LCD TVs concept.
I know quite basics of electronics repairing, might not be called genius but to quite a good level.

My friend has got a Plasma TV model no TX-P42ST31B. The screen is broken and asked me if it can be fixed, advised its no good idea as its gonna cost nearly same or more than a new TV. So another option was if he could sell any possible good parts from it.

I have opened it and tried checking it but as I m new to this Plasma TV concept so have no much clue from where to begin. My general sense tells...
