Well, I'm 1 for 2 on recaps now. The eMachines AU31 was resurrected , but the Biostar was a no go . I was real nervous on the AU31 with all the surface mount items that were real close to the caps on the back. I only ended replacing the 2200uF caps around the cpu socket. I have the other small caps in case the Sanyos and others fail later....
I have a couple of boards I want to attempt recapping. The first is an emachines/FIC AU31 and the other is a Biostar U8668 Grand. I'm planning on ordering enough caps to do both boards.
I've read a few posts here that recommend replacing the 1000uF caps and up. Both boards have a fair number of 100uF and 22uF caps. Should I replace all the larger caps first and then see if I need to do the small ones? The AU31 has Nichicon, Teapo, Ost, Sanyo and Rubycon and the Biostar has all Ost.
