Re: Recapping Asus EN8600GT SILENT/HTDP/512M
I already knew that method. I've done it and remains the same. I discovered I'm not the only one with this "Checkerboard syndrome" as they call it. It seems it is related with the S-Video out all across the 8600 series (GT and GTS)and someone found a solution to this problem, but at the cost of disabling half the shader pipelines and tv-out. Not to mention the massive loss of performance by doing this. There must be another way.
Here is the screenshot:

Re: Recapping Asus EN8600GT SILENT/HTDP/512M
I replaced the caps today. No luck... Same green squares appear in the screen, like before, inside windows. When the computer is booting the picture is fine. I guess this is 3D related... Any clues?

How much for 11x Nichicon HN 820uF 6.3v, 2x 330uF 10v Nichicon HC, 1x 100uF 16v Panasonic FR with postage to Portugal included?

Re: Recapping Asus EN8600GT SILENT/HTDP/512M
Would those Nichicon perform better than the ZLH or the FM? The maximum component height on that area, according to the new heatsink specs is 18mm.
Since I'm recaping all the 11 820uF 6.3V, I'm going to recap everything except the polymer ones. There are 2 330uF 6.3v Rubycon ZL which I'm replacing with Panasonic EEUFM0J331 Low ESR and 1 100uF 16v 105º with the marking 79 III NV that I still haven't found a proper replacement.
Do you have them too?

Re: Recapping Asus EN8600GT SILENT/HTDP/512M
Thank you mariushm, but since 2009 Farnell doesn't sell to private customers in Portugal. Just for companies. If Farnell shipped to private customers in Portugal, there weren't any problems in finding caps over here. Our local dealers that could buy from Farnell, don't do it.. they don't have any good caps. Just "standard" low quallity ones. I'm gonna have to order the ZLH from the UK. The FM I can't find online anywhere in Europe. From the US there's the postage problem... too expensive and could have to pay more if held in...Last edited by Mezanine; 03-04-2012, 05:09 PM.

Thank you very much. I'll buy the caps and post the results in a few days.

If you want to keep that card running, change the cooler.
If I can bring it back to life I'm considering this:

Re: Recapping Asus EN8600GT SILENT/HTDP/512M
First of all I'd like to thank both of you. Like I suspected it really must have been temp. If I'm able to fix the card by replacing the caps, I will the change the cooling solution for sure.
Just to make it clear for me the original caps are:
Red circles (damaged, already removed 11 pieces) Panasonic FJS 6.3V 820UF
Green circles: Rubycon 6.3v 330uF ZL series
Yellow circle: 100uF 16v 105º with the marking 79 III NV
As far as you see are the green and yellow circles bulged and also needed to...

Re: Recapping Asus EN8600GT SILENT/HTDP/512M
The red circles show where some of the damage caps were. These were Panasonic [M] FJS 6.3V 820UF. I already removed them. Yellow circle is a 100uF 16v 105º with the marking 79 III NV and the green circles are Rubycon 6.3v 330uF ZL series. The yellow and green don't seem damaged, at least visually. THe 3 polymer caps don't seem damaged either....

Re: Recapping Asus EN8600GT SILENT/HTDP/512M
There are 3 solid polymer caps on my card. None of them seem broken, or leaking. The ones that have problems are the 820uF 6.3V. Some of them are bloated and 2 are really popped.
I just thought it would be better to replace them all, but I guess I can only replace these. Regarding symptoms, there are some transparent squares appearing randomly and changing colors like pink, blue; but only when I enter windows. During boot up the screen appears ok. These symptoms appeared after those 2 caps popped.
What do you think...Last edited by Mezanine; 03-03-2012, 12:49 PM.

Recapping Asus EN8600GT SILENT/HTDP/512M
Hello everyone.
I'm trying to find good replacement caps to this graphic card, but I need some help in choosing what to buy and where to buy, as I am rather limited here in Europe. Most stores only sell in bulk. I'll need 820uF 6.3V, which I found Rubycon 6.3ZLH820M8X11.5; 330uF 6.3V, which I found Panasonic EEUFM0J331 Low ESR; 100uF 16V, which I found Panasonic M Series and I'll also need the ones shown on the photo, that I can't just find anywhere. I suspect they are 270uF 16V polymer capacitors.
Is this right? Where Can I find replacements? Are my other choices any good?...Last edited by Mezanine; 03-03-2012, 11:58 AM.
