all I get is 1 and a beep on all 4 mosfets.
I am not sure of the order of pins to check so I checked all of them and the one in the middle and on the opposite side of the chip are what gave me a reading of 1 on all 4

[QUOTE=budm;221401]I am sure your meter has auto-range, but I am sure you can select the Ohm mode or Continuity modeQUOTE]

I agree with you about that... Unfourntunatley there really arent a lot of buttons on my meter. It is completly auto and only has one button (hold) other than that I am not quite sure how to change modes if I even canRe: Gateway FPD2185W not showing display

Just to clarify that is an innacurate statement- here are the specs for my meter
    Threshold: On at <25 Ω, off at >400 Ω...

Can we step away from the mosfets and try something else. I remember when you were saying that since my lights are half glowing it could be an undercurrent issue. Is there a way to confirm that... I am trying to find the problem before I have to put it all back together before I move then once moved in I will be able to dissaseamble and hopefuly at that time I will have the correct part and change it out.

umm not to be rude but my meter isnt cheap and I did not test it becuase that method is highly inacurate. That's why I stated it was unfourtunate that I don't have a selectable meter.
with that being said- I can bet good money it isn't these, but its what was asked of me to check... so I abliged in trying to check.

EDIT- Threshold: On at <25 Ω, off at >400 Ω... Just so you don't think I am your 1%........

Sorry but your alumbs are a little confusing with no descriptions. I have tried looking through them but in this case 1,000 words is worth 1,000 words... better than a pic (for my braind that is)
    Thanks Thou!...

Well as I did what you said I also looked clser at the connections on the board... 1 of the pins were bent you can see in picture.
I bent it back carefully and plugged the lights in. When I turn it on they all light up halfway... but then one second stopped them from trying to continually light. I swithced them back and forth and I get same results but with humming when I plug only one in (Not sure why but didn't see it as immediate danger)
I guess now that I fixed that pin I am wondering if I should put it all back...

    This is funny
    1) with backlights on there wouldn't be a black screen
1)if the backlights were to go out that doesn't mean there not on... there just not working.

Let me simplify this - Monitor on - Lamps on (1 sec) - screen turns off (not black)... hope that helps scenic ...

Hmm... well I actually didn't find it all that hard to get to the bulbs, but I have been taking apart things for a long time. I guess you could say disassembaly is my expertise.
I included the pictures of the bulbs... It looks like the bottom bulbs have 1 burnt and the other 2 look okay along with the other set of 3. Okay I know I might have jumped too far ahea of myself, but one thing that I rely on is visual information and some screws and tabs don't really hold me back.

I guess now that I have the bulbs out I am wondering...

1)No white screen just Gateway logo
2)My Desktop shows up once and dissapears

Corrct that is the meter I have.

I think it's my ccfl bulbs and I am taking apart the screen now... I will update with new pics soon.

  • Gateway FPD2185W not showing display

So I have a monitor that I bought of ebay that was claimed working but really wasn't. I ordered a complete set of caps and changed out the 470uf 25v's but I haven't replaced the ones on the vga board becase they look good. In fact all the caps look good before I changed out the caps, and I tested after the 8 changed out and still same result.
I can power it on and off. It powers on and if connected will register with computer and stay blue, but if not connected it will turn amber in sleep mode. The Gateway logo power on and I can see the backlight in the background on the lcd. I was thinking...
