Can anyone point me to a review or suggest a good microscope or trinocular for a semi serious tech getting into SMD?
have been watching Richard from Learn Electronics Repair and he recommended a trinocular simulfocal from Amazon
I also saw a review from a guy that had his meter (think it was a fluke) display in his microscope lenses
any tips appreciated !...

Mosfet Advice
Hi there - looking for a good mixed bag of mosfets to get started with and keep in my kit - there are several on Ali express - can anyone recommend a good mixed bag from there or anywhere else - I am doing all sorts of electronic repairs at a repair cafe thanks largely to Richard from “Learning Electronics Repair” videos
Some relevant repairs to date where I’ve needed Fets are DC DC chargers, power supplies, (lots of plug packs) wind turbine controllers,
thanks in advance...

Thanks Harp and Redwire, both great suggestions, I will have some time to get into this this weekend, really appreciate your ideas, and yes I have a light bulb limiter, another of Richard's (LER) suggestions that seems like a great idea! Thanks again, I'll let you know how I get along...

Thanks Redwire - it was our bench PS in the lab at the office for years, so has been going great. Yes I reckon it’s a kit and your age feels about right
It’s a project more than a necessity so will attempt to create a schematic but if that’s a bust I’ll go the Chinese kit route as you suggest - thanks so much for the suggestion

Retro DC Bench Power Supply
Hi, pretty new to repair and have an OLD benchtop DC power supply with no output. There is no voltage showing on the volt meter display however the current meter is full scale at 5a when on the 2a limit setting and 1.35a when on the 500ma setting.
230V AC is making it past the fuse and into the main transformer - a yellow pair on the secondary has 30VAC on it, Brown pair 37V, there is what I think is a centre tap coming from the main transformer in green that has 15V and 20V respectively from the yellow and brown windings.
From there the power dives into what looks like a control...3 PhotosLast edited by Brendon@aa; 12-29-2023, 03:18 AM. Reason: Corrected “bottom transformer” to “bottom transistor”

Hi everyone - Brendon from New Zealand - been in AV and Automation Installation for 30 years and finally getting time to learn about a longstanding hobby of electronics repair
I’ve been watching Richard from Learning Electronic Repairs’ YouTube channel hard out for months now (at video 182 today) and have even fixed a few basic things as a result of his excellent content
Still setting up my workstation - have a bench PS, Duratech Iron, pros kit desolder station, ST heat gun etc but my most prized tool is my Fluke 79 that should date me pretty well !
