  • Re: ASUS ve205 goes black

I will open the dell15" to check the problem monitor.

    Couple of questions:

No power is needed to the dell when connected via its ccfl's to the Asus correct?

Do I need a signal via the vga or dvi to the asus to check the ccfl's?

I don't know how many bulbs are on the dell 15" standard screen.

If only one, do I unplug only one of the asus's and check and then try the other. Asus has 2 connectors for ccfl's. Or do I unplug both the ccfl's in the asus and try the dell blub...

Got the bifocals out and I think the IC's say:

    A515GGM
    A10798

    Sound familiar?

    Thanks for the response.

The power board has the following numbering:

    E 227809 HXF-S S4v

The paper label has the following:

    5E 1170008 90131 D23 G8V41HD 677188 G

Even with a magnifying glass I can't read the IC chips.

    Transformer information:

I used the numbering in the pic in your reply.

    1-2 440 ohms
1-3 through 1-8 all are open
2-3 through 2-8 all are open
3-4 through 7-8 all are Zero (short)

    Checked...

    ASUS ve205 goes black

I have an ASUS ve205 that comes on for a few seconds then goes black.

If I restart it I get he picture for a second and goes black again.

The led on the power button does stay blue even after the screen goes black.

One thing I noticed is if I take a flashlight and shine it on the screen, I can see my desktop.

Does this sound like my inverter board for the cffl lights has gone bad?

I have a degree in industrial electronics but ended up an accountant. I am sure I can still do some soldering.

    Any suggestions...
