Trying to help a friend sort out a faulty Samsung SM-2493HM.

The monitor is working but it sometimes exhibits noticeable horizontal red speckled banding and red speckling on dark images? We have tried all the inputs (VGA, DVI and HDMI), different cables, different computer and hooking it up to a PS3 via HDMI but the problem is still there. We sent it back under warranty (a few days before it expired) and had the panel replaced but it's still having the same issue so it looks to be an issue with the internal electronics and not the panel as we thought.

Wow! Such knowledgeable and skilled people, pity i'm not an electronics genius or else I wouldn't be registered here

I don't do electronics as a job, just PC's and networking but I can strip a laptop and solder on a few usb plugs and power plugs if that helps!! I'm no stranger to the soldering iron so hopefully I can muddle my way through a cap replacement if needed!!

I'll be trying to fix a mates Samsung SM-2493HM hopefully via this site so looking forward to some expert advice!!
