Re: Bios for HP 430 G2 intel 5th generation CPU
I have a 430 G2 with blinking lights as well. Took a bios dump - can someone take a look if this is the problem?

Medion Erazer X7843 charger IC destroyed
Hi all; I have an Erazer X7843 on my bench which got fed by a 24V charger. Its completely obliterated. I tried every angle under the microscope but cant decypher anything more than this, and even that is open to interpretation:
86_5_N
____2G
1543A2
Its a 32 pin QFN.
I tried finding high res pictures of the motherboard (6-77-P670RG-N03B-1A), but the only ones I can find have this IC covered up by the silver tape that comes standard on the board.
I'm posting here in the hopes that someone might be able to identify the IC with the...

Toshiba Satellite L870-150 - no LCD and graphics driver crash
This laptop was brought in not responding to the charger, but it would turn on with a (charged) battery.
I dont have the schematic, but I traced the problem down to the charging chip (TI bq24725A), which had, according to the datasheet, an incorrect voltage on the ACDET pin. The voltage was 6.5, which the datasheet said should be between 2.4 and 3.15V in order for ACOK to come on.
I figured the voltage divider resistors had gone bad and replaced them (with different valued ones, calculated with this...

Re: HP G62 - Foxconn star reverer - missing +V5A rail
+V3.3AL is back up after leaving the board alone for a while and plugging it back in.
just in case: PU850:
Pin 6 is 19.5V and fine
Pin 4 is 3.3V and fine
Pin 7 is 5V and fine
Pin 27 5V and fine
I'll see if I can find the bios file and whether my programmer supports the chip.

Re: HP G62 - Foxconn star reverer - missing +V5A rail
EC_ALW_ON should be coming from UI2, I see. That chip is also getting a little warm.
resistance between EC_ALW_EN and ground is infinite, so no short to ground there. Should I start ordering me a new IT8502E?
Update: IT8502E no longer warming up. Also, +V3.3AL is now gone. I havent changed anything other than leaving the DC jack plugged in for a half hour or so.Last edited by Atomdesign; 08-07-2017, 07:39 AM.

HP G62 - Foxconn star reverer - missing +V5A rail
Someone left me a G62-a13ED laptop to repair.
Symptoms: Wont turn on.
Some corrosion around PU850 (SN0608098RHBT)
+V3.3AL OK
+V5A is 0 volt.
I've replaced PQ850 and PU850, no change.
There is no short to ground on the +5VA rail.
Measurements I've taken:
PU850 pins:
Pin 26 (DRVH2 +V3.3AL_UG_20) = 3.5V
Pin 25 (LL2 +3_3V_AL_PHASE_20) = 3.3V
Pin 24 (VBST2 +3_3V_AL_VBST_20) = 8.4V
Pin 23 (DRVL2 +V3.3AL_LG_20) = 0.9V
Pin 15 (DRVH1 DHI) = 0V
Pin 16 (LL1 +V5A_PHASE_20)...

Hey my friend how did it go with the acer you were trying to bring back to life? I've checked your thread I'm into chip level repair.

Re: Stumped on this Acer 6530G - dead motherboard
Bear with me here, I'm trying to learn, not so much just repair the motherboard. (But it would be nice if I could do that as well)
The SIO chip (u7 in this case) requires a voltage on certain pins before it will output voltages on KBRST (122), PWROK_EC_uR (74) and S5_ON(26)
In a tutorial I watched, I learned that an SIO chip will turn on the BIOS chip as long as it has:

+3V on its VCC pins
a functional crystal
voltage on the EC_RST pin, which I think corresponds to the KBRST...

Re: Stumped on this Acer 6530G - dead motherboard
Reporting back with my measurements:
PU11
Pin 13 = 3v OK

SIO you´ll need to check:
VCC PINS = 19, 46, 76, 88, 115 and 102 ALL OK
Crystal = 32.768KHZ - I checked the nearby testpoint with my scope and got a nice round wave. Would that mean its functional?
Pin 122 = 3v measured 0V
Pin 95 = 3v OK
Pin 74 = 3v measured...

Stumped on this Acer 6530G - dead motherboard
I'm in the process of repairing an Acer 6530G motherboard (DA0ZK3MB6F0 Rev:F). This is one of many defective laptops / laptop parts I'm attempting the repair of to further my electronics troubleshooting skills.
For this one, I have the appropriate schematic which got me pretty far in troubleshooting, but not all the way.
I have attached the schematic to this post.
Here's where I'm at.
+5VPCU and +3VPCU lines are okay.
I figured out that NBSWON should have 3V without pressing the power button. NBSWON comes from the SIO chip U7 pin number...

Re: HP 550 schematic
Sorry to necropost, but it pertains to this specific thread so hopefully its ok.
Yesterday, I came across a box containing two HP550 with a malfunctional backlight. I didn't realize it was nearly 1.5 years ago when I last looked at these and started this thread. I now see that Dimitrios attempted to fix a similar schematic deprived HP 550 and failed in the end. Probably a good choice, I took way too much time on this one.
Back to yesterday.. I decided to simply find the CN17 connector pin going to which looked like it needed a voltage,...

Hello AtomDesign. Please take a look on your thread regarding HP 550!

Re: HP 550 schematic
The top one of those two is quite close, but its the same one I linked in my original post. Q61 is simply not present on either of the HP550 boards I have....

Thanks for the schematics, but sadly none of the three corresponds to my motherboard.

HP 550 schematic
Hi all. This is my first post here. I won't bother you with my history as far as laptop repairs are concerned, but I want to mention that I have some basic electronics knowledge and just learned how to somewhat understand laptop motherboard schematics.
The specific issue I wanted to ask about here concerns an HP 550:
The issue is that the laptop has no backlight. Its not an obvious fix, I've made sure that both LCD and inverter are working properly.
I found that the problem is on the motherboard.
I'm in the fortunate situation to have three identical...
