  • Re: Another Westinghouse LCM-22w3

The solder adds (a little) to the current carrying capacity of the circuit trace like using a thicker copper but cheaper. As long as you didn't short any adjacent traces you'll be fine....

I don't have a Sigma or the factory service manual for it but I suspect the TCU is in the same location as the Diamante/3000GT, on the floor of the center console below and in front of the ECU.

Make sure to replace the caps in both the TCU and ECU. If they are not bad yet after 20 years they will be soon....

I have two of these. Was it obvious as to how to open the case up to get at the board?

  • Re: Nichicon Loses Some Brownie Points

I searched high and low for the Rubycon MBZ parts when they first came out to replace the caps in all my Abit BX (BH6 and BX133) motherboards and you know how successful that turned out to be. At the time the Nichicon HN(M) looked to be a good second choice. That wasn't the case. I've now replaced the input and output caps on these machines several times due the the caps venting.
The HN(M) can't take the stress from of the old Celeron Coppermine CPU's.

Time to get some good caps.
