  • Re: Lenovo ideapad 5-14IIL05 BIOS bin

Unforunately, just this one repair on my own laptop but I have enjoyed learning all the info from your site. So now that I have seen the programmer costs so much money, I am stuck and thinking I have no choice but to take it to a repair shop

Unless you can think of anything else I can try first but I think I need to re-programme the EC chip as well right, now that I have written to the BIOS, as the laptop still doesn't get past the black screen.

Ok, that makes sense now. Thank you. But I note that those EC programmers are expensive ...

Hi @qayyum786, do I also need an EC file? And if yes, how do I write the EC file to the motherboard? Is it to the same BIOS chip or to a different chip on the motherboard?

If it needs to be written to the same BIOS chip, is that done before, after or at the same time in some way?

Apologies for the basic questions but the laptop is still not working and I would love to get it fixed today! Thanks

  • Re: Lenovo ideapad 5-14IIL05 BIOS bin

Hi all, I saw that in post #7 @SMDFlea provided two files for the Ideapad 5-14IIL05 Laptop 81YH.

    File DSCN34WW (DOSFLMS0).zip 6.20 MB
    File DSCN34WW_EC (DOSFLMS0).zip 62.5 KB

My question is, how do you write the EC file to the motherboard? My motherboard only has one BIOS chip and I have applied a new BIOS .bin file provided to me by @qayyum786 in another post but the laptop is still not working and I am thinking that maybe I need to also apply an EC update but I am not sure how that needs to be written and if...

Thank you @gayyum786 but it didn't work.

The steps that I took were to erase the BIOS with Neoprogrammer. I double-checked that it was wiped sucessfully. Then I applied the .bin file that you provided and verified that the write was successful. But I still have the same issue where the laptop powers on, the fan comes on but the screen is black. Then the fan stops and after maybe 15 seconds, the fan comes on again and runs for about 30 seconds but still nothing on the screen. Then after another 30 seconds, the laptop switches...

Hi Moderators, I hope it is for me to create a new post, instead of using this old post, as I think that I now understand that my DMI needs to be added to the virgin .bin file for it to work but I don't know how to do this.

And what I am unsure of is as to why some people have provided 2 .bin files in the attachments. For example in post #4 above, @hoaca388 had provided 2 .bin files within the rar file 'Ideapad 5-14IIL05_ Type 81YH_DOSFLMS0.rar'.

One is labelled 'Ideapad 5-14IIL05_ Type 81YH_DOSFLMS0.bin' and the other is labelled 'DOSFLMS0_EC.bin'. Am I meant to write both files to the BIOS, or amend them in some way with a hex editor?

In case it is relevant, my laptop model is: 81YH

I forgot the mention that I verified the IC in Neoprogrammer after writing the .bin file to the BIOS and that all shows ok, so I believe that the BIOS has been written to sucessfully but the laptop still does not boot

Hi all, the power got disconnected while the BIOS was being updated on my 1411L05 laptop and now the laptop does not start up. The fan turns on but the screen is black and does not load up. The motherboard is FLMS0 LA-J551P Rev 1.0.

I have read the corrupt BIOS chip XM25QH128A using a CH341A programmer with the Neoprogrammer app and I have attached the 'Lenovo Backup Corrupt BIOS' file.

I erased the corrupt BIOS using Neoprogrammer and I then wrote the attached DSCN34WW (DOSFLMS0).bin file to the BIOS but the laptop still...
