  • Update : got a bit sick. Computer is working no problem : I had the choice to permently disable computrace (which is done ) and supervisor password is disabled with no errors thanks to MaxPower EC file . The working bios for x380 is from 4Matic (Thanks). I managed to learn a bit from the dump provided. So i am assuming that computrace are those two 60 on adress 00000200 which needs to be zeroed out in order to have the choice to remove computrace. Supervisor password is disabled from zeroing out from adress 00000210 to adress 00000230 approximatively (I uploaded a binary diff between the original...

  • Update : So I noticed that i removed pin 7 trace from the motherboard so i had to repair it . I used Bios and EC file from 4Matic : Bios boot to lenovo and the lenovo logo + there is no supervisor password (Thanks 4Matic and MaxPower ) appear but i got 2x invalid RFID serialization data with error code 0188 + 0189 and 0177 : Bad SVP data , Stop POST Leak. On top of that there is computrace enabled. I used the lenovo U1 tool to update since the system unit serial number (Which is 1S20LJS13H00MP1L3FZK) since the bios menu displayed INVALID for Machine type model , System Unit serial number...

  • So I tested again with flashing the bios and EC chip with the files from 4MATIC; Symptoms are still the same pwer led on with some buttons lighting up then totally power off . Beforehand, I read the EC chip flashed with MaxPower file ; I noticed that the file output from the EC chip was different. The file read will be atteched .

Well if the software side is not the problem , I will need to check thorougly myself the hardware part to find what causes this symptom....

  • Ok , so for flashing the EC file , I had to use the Vertyanov programmer and connect to the EC chip by using the keyboard port ; I read the dump 3 times and saved as many file in order to have a correct copy ; I then flashed the EC chip with the file provided and made sure that the file was correctly inputted in the cheap by reading again. Unfortunately, the laptop, when power on , light capslock, escape, F1 and F4 button then powers off; i have provided here the ec dump i got from the EC chip originally...

Sorry for bothering , I forgot that i have a taken a photo of the bios menu with all the information before doing the shorting method to bypass password. The problem may lie between the bios chip and the EC chip. Is it possible to get a bios bin and EC bin please ? Thank you in advance

Now , the laptop keyboard light up and down but there is no post no lenovo logo nor display. fan run one time then shut down. I think that the bios may be corrupted. Hence, i have made a copy...

  • Hello MaxPower,
Thanks again for sharing this method. I tested on my laptop but it is high risks, high reward solution . It was a lenovo x380. Of 50 tries on shorting LPC_AD 0 to GND, I managed to get to 2 times in the bios. On the first time, i cleared the Supervisor password and cleared the security ; I have done Ctrl+Alt+Del to exit from bios ; Upo rebooting the bios password was still there. So i managed to get bios a second time. but this time laptop froze when i was redoing clearing supervisor password; It shuts downs ; upon powering on, There was no display not even Lenovo Logo :...
