I have been trying to resurrect a 37" Planar LCD I picked up for the local landfill and narrowed my problem down to an open transformer on the inverter board. I have tried searching for a supplier but have come up empty except for 1 used parts dealer in china.
The board number is vit70004 60-1 and the tranformer says t51. 0040. 211 Z1 underneath it says: 0608 03 4k. Anyone with any input as to were to find these? Thanks

Re: Sony KDL-37m400 Relay Click...... Nothing
So I flipped the power board as per Selldoors request to get a pic and figured I'd check out a few of the diodes for integrity and what do you know I found a bad one!
Selldoor, thanks for being patient with me. I'm trying to learn as I go but I am easily distracted.
So included are a pic of the inverter board, backside of power board and a close-up of the offending diode. Now, how the heck am I supposed to fix this tiny little diode and how will I figure out what direction to put it in?...

Re: Sony KDL-37m400 Relay Click...... Nothing
The TV was in the basment and he claims the water traveled in through the cable and dripped down on the tv. Must have been that way a while cause it is pretty corroded. I am not ready to give up on it so any troubleshooting help I can get is very appreciated. There is a transistor that has a kind of ooze look to it. How would I go about testing it.

Thanks to all who tried to help me. I have given up on this one. At least for now.

Re: Sony KDL-37m400 Relay Click...... Nothing
Diode test is 1070 one way and 230 the other,
Z1 is just above and left of the relay it looks like a ceramic disc capacitor but I don't think it is, guessing it has to do with surge protection.
I'll update the other thread, sorry about that. Just gave up, in over my head I guess.
Thanks

Sony KDL-37m400 Relay Click...... Nothing
I have a Sony 37m400 that was apparently getting wet. Person that asked me to look at it said it just died. It is obvious by looking at the main board and water stains running down the front that it had gotten wet several times over a long period of time.
Only signs of life are a clicking relay when attempting to power on and a standy light. I found a diode that's questionable, and I also would like to know what is at location Z1 just north of the main fuse on the power board, it tests open whatever it is.
The questionable diode is at D950...

Re: 42" Spectrincq no power
Thanks Budm, bare with me here, I just pulled the diodes that I thought where bad and replaced one and tested and it tested bad! It seems that something on the board is making the diodes test bad, when I pull a leg they test fine. Is there a reason for this?

Re: 42" Spectrincq no power
Whats up with that resistor? The color coded one, somethings not adding up when I do the chart. They tested with very low resistance before it blew.

I have a spare tny264p, do you think I could substitute?

Re: 42" Spectrincq no power
tny266pn, any easy tests for it? It had a tiny heatsink that popped off.
