• Re: LG Flatron L1710s stays in power saving mode.

I'll reopen the chassis and take high res pictures, but until then here's more info:

If the monitor went into power saving mode, unplugging everything - even for days - might have no effects. In fact, I am not certain what "works" for brigning it back. Last time, I was looking for capacitors, and powered it without the CCFLs - maybe it has something to do with that.

When its acting, plugging power will lead directly to green power led blinking. The usual behaviour would be to "do nothing"...

The monitor has only the one VGA input, and changing the cable has no impact. Once the monitor is in sleep mode, it takes gymnastics to bring it back. One can go back and forth to another monitor to prove there is an image or even power down the monitor. once plugged back in it will be stuck in power saving mode, with or without a cable connected.

the mains here are about 120V - didn't see where to enter it in the profile.

  • LG Flatron L1710s stays in power saving mode.

I have a LG Flatron L1710s that stays in power saving mode once it gets there. Otherwise the display is good. No ghosts, backlight correct and adjustable, no noise. Disconnecting sometimes brings it back to responsive, otherwise it stays with a blinking power led no matter if we send a signal.

The power supply board looks good, there doesn't seem to be any bad capacitor. I might recap anyway but I am thinking something else would be at cause for this lack of being able to recover from power saving.

What should I be looking for?

  • Re: LG Flatron L1710s no display pulsing power led

This thread might be 24 months old, but I have a L1710s with a similar issue... when it goes into power saving mode, it stays in power saving mode. Disconnecting sometimes brings it back to responsive, otherwise it stays with a blinking power led no matter if we send a signal.

I am all for a recap job, but prefer understanding what's wrong before pulling out components. Right now all the caps seems to be just fine; is that zener story just some fairytale? How do we know for sure if its wrong and what diode are we talking...

  • Re: Dead Power Supply(XAD819AR) for Acer AL1706

I find it quite amusing that they made all those revisions, and it was always the same problem to raise...

I changed a bulged cap on mine, which is a different version (non-TDK) but behaved the same way; result is a working monitor.

Well, I changed other caps while I had it open; same company, likely bulging waiting to happen. Funny how the replacement caps (same specs, down to the temperature rating) ended up being smaller than the faulty ones.

Wanted to say thanks to all who got involved in...

Well, I mean it is not even remotely related. I guess they got away from the TDK boards and replaced it with one by another company.

That's weird, the power board on my AL1706 is different than both ones pictured in this thread. There's one bulging capacitor, sadly I don't have any replacement in stock.

    Delays, delays. lol.

Thanks everyone who participated in this thread for all the references.

Well, apparently, pryint it open was the way. I ended up taking the cover out. Now the real troubleshooting can begin.

Sorry for reviving an old thread...

I have the same model, same problem.

AL1706 turns on, I actually see the logo and then the signal from the computer for a brief moment (maybe half a second) before the backlight turns off. I figure, all works but the backlight controller or power supply.

Before attempting any kind of recap job, I have a more problematic question. How do we open these monitors? I can't find out how to remove the cover. I removed the stand, the only screws I could find....
