Re: Sony with a weak powerup, green power light slowly blinks
yeah, i wasn't thinking that a reflow was in order for this either, but, the customer requested it after the mosfet didn't pan out...
but how you thinking on the reflow not working on a laptop?
the few I've done so far, one has come back... a dv7 but at least 2 I have here have held up so far... I'm not just doing a reflow, and putting in copper shimss for these but also modding the airflow the chips have available, it ain't pretty, YET. but I have about 3 dv60000 variants (compaqs,...

Re: Sony with a weak powerup, green power light slowly blinks
and then the guy called me up to check on it... after I run down the attempted repairs, he suggests the gpu might be whats up because he will slam his hand down on the palmrest alot when he's gaming and it's right above where the gpu is located. so I'm gonna try one or two more things and return it in either state (repaired or not-repaired) I just hope with full access to documentation of the repairs I've tried, he will be of the opinion that I've done as much to track down the issue as I could but was not able to....

Re: Sony with a weak powerup, green power light slowly blinks
I've looked at a bunch of boards that I have here and this is the closest ive found on board a toshiba a105 mobo.. a RSS090N03 30v 9a switching dc/dc converter with similar but not exact specs..
before I try that out do you think that is okay to do or do I order one that is the same numbers? is the variance in the two substantial enough or similar enough to warrant not using or using it? is there a set of guidelines to follow like there is for caps on pc's or only exact matches should be...

Re: Sony with a weak powerup, green power light slowly blinks
First! thank for telling me which motherboard it is. I ended up finding the number when I tore down the laptop all the way today and found I had indeed already downloaded the right schematic yesterday so thank you but no need, for the offer to post it here.
I am posting up a pic of the readings I got for pq2 and pq32 with power supply only, battery only and with both connected.. the standby and power button pressed didn't alter the readings.. it would just make the power blink green slowly.... while also...

Sony with a weak powerup, green power light slowly blinks
hello All. I have a Sony VPCEA16fg that was brought in by a student, it's not on the US site and doesn't have a service manual that I've been able to locate. It's foxconn board number is e253117.
He came in telling me the guy who looked at it had said it would probably need a reflow but I think maybe something else besides the gpu would cause its symptoms...
When you put in an adapter, no led's light up, but you can press the power and the light will shine green like it wants to start. It will then stop trying to start and begin to blink slowly as the fan starts...

Re: Sony 32s3000 5 blinks bad eeprom replaced board still 5 blinks
I finally got a new phone to take some pics with...
From the information i'd found in the service manual, i focused on the power board, didn't see anything obviously blown or broken on it however.
i'm going to test the voltages today hopefully...
I attached some images of the boards in case somebody my spot what could be causing this standby problem visually.
Thank you for anytime you can spare to help me track down this seemingly "easy, but not so much with...

from what it sounds like on this manual... it's a voltage discrepancy on the powerboard.. which.. totally makes sense, there are a couple of suspect caps on the board... but i never inspected the thing since the other manual was steering me a whole nother direction...Re: Sony 32s3000 5 blinks bad eeprom replaced board

Re: Sony 32s3000 5 blinks bad eeprom replaced board still 5 blinks
oh well.. i came to the realization that the service manual was not the one I should have been looking at...
the chasis number is the difference, not the model number...
I have the correct one now and the 5 blinks now means something completely different.
DC_ALERT3.. BUT WHAT DOES THAT MEAN???
HMMM hopefully i can deduce that today.

Re: Sony 32s3000 5 blinks bad eeprom replaced board still 5 blinks
hello again...
tried to move forward today but was not a fruitful endeavor. Found the best price to upgrade my phone (and it's camera) ... I got to walmart too late too meet a cell service person. My tablet.. could not get a focused image to save my life today... my DSLR? I guess I'm just now coming to realize.. I've gotten lazy or spoiled because the thought of the process to unpack the camera, set it up, take the pics, remove the cf, plug it in to my computer, grab the pics, resize them from RAW and then...

Re: Sony 32s3000 5 blinks bad eeprom replaced board still 5 blinks
Hi! thanks for the reply, and thanks for the additional information where to look. I have the service manual and it indicates ic7200 for the nand memory but, looking at the board, in comparison to the schematic... the layout's don't seem to jibe with the literature.
I had taken a look at the t-con and noticed along the row of capacitors right past the connection, one seemed to be missing. I placed a temp jumper there but the tv then would not start at all.
my cell phone camera up and got...

Sony 32s3000 5 blinks bad eeprom replaced board still 5 blinks
I have a kdl32s3000 that will turn on then switch into standby mode blinking 5 times, you can turn it of then only manually.. at which point you can turn it on with the remote or manually, it will then go back into standy mode and blink 5 times... service manual lists 5 blinks as initialization nvm error, and is bad eeprom or not readable eeprom. Found a main board online, got it today, placed it in the casing and plugged it all back in..
turns on, then right back off.. 5 blinks...
any suggestions as to what i'm overlooking here?
I am really big on...

Re: Vizio E220VA no standby, no power
thanks! I'd posted a while back about one I had (have) that I recieved after it's owner had removed all of the caps and I didn't have any clue about what they needed to be. Now I can finally move ahead with that little project I have had sitting behind my file box! I can just match them up on the images vs the repair kit list.

Re: No sound, USB, or webcam on Satellite L505D-LS5006
From what I have found (reflowing the southbridge - temp fix at best) and all that I've researched... this is the only solution that I've come across that is a definite and verified fix to the problem. I'd like to kiss the guy but I'm not gay so I'll just give the "whats up" nod from across the forum...
but seriously, try this solution, check the l4519 CAP if that doesn't work, dont' fall into the trap of "restore to factory" or the popular "Toshiba/Microsoft is doing this on purpose...

Re: HELP - 22" LED Razor Model - Missing Caps! need to know the sizes
Yes, he took out the caps but didn't write any thing down or take any pics.. nothin.
I did just find one promising link though right here.
http://wenku.baidu.com/view/ce9a9bb169dc5022aaea0064.html but I am not sure if I trust it... i'd love it if anybody had the same board and could compare the two (board and pdf) cuz capacitors i've got, but knowledge of which ones go where, I don't.
