• Re: LG50PC1D Screen flicker

Hi,

I've had the same problem with this model about 6 months ago, but when I replaced the buffer FETs the set only lasted a couple of hours and then blew the FETs again.

Yesterday I was given yet another one, with the same model number, and the exact same fault! I changed the FETs, and sure enough, 3 hours later the fault returned again.

tom66, could the ER-IPM be faulty even though it works perfectly for a few hours? Or is there something else going on? Seems strange to have the exact same fault on two different...

• LG 50PC1D Recurring Ysus Buffer Short

Hi,

I have an LG 50PC1D plasma TV which suddenly lost picture, showing only an entire screen of moving coloured vertical lines. After a bit of research online, I found a post here http://blog.coppelltvrepair.com/2010/10/vertical-or-horizontal-color-lines-in.html which pointed to the YSUS buffers, specifically the MOSFETs which are mounted on them... I tested them as per the instructions on the page, and found two shorted FETs on the lower buffer. I replaced them, and the set worked perfectly, without any faults at all. For 30 minutes. Then the same problem returned....

• Re: Philips 50FP5532D plasma Ysus fault

Ok so here is an update...

I have now fitted the Ysus repair kit. Also have a new lower buffer. When I switch the TV on, the screen is black. If i remove the lower buffer and power on, the top half is displayed, albeit with some sparkles. With the lower buffer connected, there is no picture! Both buffers are clearly ok, so can anyone tell me which component on the Ysus board is likely to be causing this symptom? Or could it be a case of adjusting the pots on the Ysus board? I have already checked voltages from the power board...

Yes, checked and re-checked. Ordered a Ysus repair kit from eBay for £25. I am thinking maybe one of the FETs is screwing up when hot. The kit also has a few caps and resistors etc in it, i hope once i change them all it will work properly! Just an odd fault, most times things improve as the set warms up... mine seems to be the opposite! I have found a few slightly bulged caps on the power board, however the voltages seem ok even when the TV is hot......

• Philips 50FP5532D plasma Ysus fault

Hi all,

I have recently been trying to save a Philips 50inch plasma TV with a faulty Ysus and lower buffer board. I have found and replaced two faulty MOSFET transistors on the Ysus board, and bought a replacement (second-hand) buffer.
On fitting the parts and powering up, the TV worked perfectly. For about 3 hours. Then the picture went fuzzy, with some ghosting and sparkling, interspersed with very bright flickering of the picture.
I turned the TV off and allowed it to cool for about 30 mins. When I turned it on, it was OK again until it warmed up, when the same...

• Re: LG plasma MZ-42PZ44 YSUS short

Cadiman, could you please elaborate on your method for removing the IC? I cannot seem to get any of the solder off, i have clipped the pins to board level and tried braid and desoldering pump without success. Do you recommend using a heat gun? Thanks in advance :-)

Additional info, sorry I missed the edit window.

All the voltages above were taken with all leads disconnected apart from AC supply.

With all leads plugged in, voltages are as follows at the connectors:

CN802
THER D: 4.4V
STB-5V: 5V
PS ON: 0.5V
D3.3: 0.9V

CN803
VS ON: 0.4V
D3.3: 0.9V

all others are 0V.

hope this helps

Alan...

Hello again

Thanks for the quick reply! Here is some further info...

The panel is a Samsung PPM50H3

I have attached several pics which I took with my iPhone so hopefully they are clear enough. (I removed the plastic tops from the four big caps to check that they were not blown, so although they look funny they are all ok) I have also checked all the pins on the power board, and have found the following readings:

Connector CN802:
THER-D: 4.8V
STB-5V: 5V
...

Hi everyone

Sorry to post on such an old thread but the power supply I have is the same one as listed here (B4K-50) and I appear to have a similar although more perplexing problem.

Basically I have a PDP that I got given for free, which I think was hit by a power surge. The Ysus buffers had a couple of blown ic's and so I have replaced them but the set will not power up. When I plug in the AC lead the standby light comes on steady for about 5 secs. Then it blinks 9 times and goes out. It will not come...
