Re: Philips 42PFL5432D/37
Yes, that is CN902, if you put one tester on the red, and then the other on each of the white ones, you get 10 tests. At least that is what I come up with, unless I'm doing it wrong....

Re: Philips 42PFL5432D/37
Just found this post in my local area. Wondering if this would be fixable or if I could use it for parts to fix mine. What do you guys think? I just sent her a message to see what her bottom dollar is. Here is her actual picture and description.
42' Phillips Flat Screen w/Ambulight for sale. Also comes with the remote.
It has a black strip down the side of the screen other than that it works fine. My son uses it to play the 360 & watch movies on. Make me an offer....

Close up of the area in red per your request. And yes, when it kicks off, we still have sound and back lights.
What do I set the meter to to perform the above mentioned test?

SCL=3.28
TSTPGM=.01
Tested when the TV Shut off, Meter set @ DcV -20

VIN=.45
SCL=0
TSTPGM=0...

Re: Philips 42PFL5432D/37
I have a new digital multi-meter. It's the same one TBuch bought in an earlier post, with which I tested all the diodes.
Where and what exactly is the T-Con???

Hey T,
Got my caps on Tues. Re-capped everything on the scaler board last nite. Hooked it up and SAME PROBLEM..............waaaaahahawaaa.........=(

Re: Philips 42PFL5432D/37
OH, and with the help of TBuch, I tested all the diodes while waiting for the last shipment of caps. They all checked out fine.

Re: Philips 42PFL5432D/37
Hey Guys,
I've been away for awhile taking care of my husbands elderly parents, but am still having TV issues.
Here's what I have done so far :
1) Re-capped bloated caps on Scaler board. (I think it was only 2 or 3)
TV would still shut off after 20-30 mins or so.
2) Re-capped most all caps on the power board
TV still had same issue, but discovered that if we kept a fan running
behind it it would stay on all day & all night.
3) You guys had me doubt my original solder...

I'm in Tulsa all day today. (The big city) Does anyone know where I might pick up caps while I am here ? Just a thought.

Re: Philips 42PFL5432D/37
The red one was my first attempt at soldering, remember? I was using thicker solder. I took that one off and re-did it and they are both nice and shiny and don't seem to wiggle.

Re: Philips 42PFL5432D/37
Well, I managed to get one decent shot of my soldering. I found out that there are a total of 14 capXons on that board. I have already replaced 3. The others are:
100 uf 25v (qty 3)
220 uf 16v (qty 6)
220 uf 25v (qty2)
Does anybody know what those two green caps are? The name starts with a cursive L and I can't make out the rest. Don't know if they are a decent brand or not. Am wondering if I should replace them as well.
They are 470 uf 35v...

Re: Philips 42PFL5432D/37
Have you tried running one speaker on the output of the other? The connectors are keyed so it may be difficult to do so.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, I can hook up either side of the speaker sound bar to the Speaker Connector & get sound so it's not the speakers inside the sound bar. It's the left set side of where you hook up the speakers (top RT side of 1st pic) and I followed the trail to a CapXon cap. BTW, there are lots more CapXons there. That was the first board I...

Re: Philips 42PFL5432D/37
Getting ready to remove the board to take pics, but have another issue that I wanted your input on. This may or may not be related to the t.v losing picture but you would know better than I.
I ALWAYS noticed that the sound seemed louder on the RT of the soundbar. Anyway, when we hooked the sound bar up last nite I noticed that there was NO sound on the LEFT side. So, I followed it to the ONLY CapXon left on the board. In the meantime, I hooked up both sides of the sound bar to the CN801 side on the speaker connector and now the soundbar works on...
