I can understand about a driver IC shorting but an LED shorting??? Is that even possible??? You cant test an LED with a DMM as there is no circuit.

I just by luck had the flashing screen upon power up, and thought it was the ps caps again.....thing is that I fixed it for this nice older lady who cuts my hair....less than a year ago, and I thought......no way when I put in pannys instead of crapicon.......just for s**ts and grins....I took off the lid of the main digital, and OMG.....3 more crapicons.....split like the do........will replace here in a minute and let you know my findings.....no one is going to tell ssg Kelly that he cant fix it.......stay safe!!!

I got a 42PC3DV LG PLASMA TV off cl for $40, and ordered the caps before the tv got dropped by the house.....took the back off to find all good caps......and the y sus had been replaced...was getting all my voltages but the sus board had only 2 nof the 5 screws holding on....went to remove the digital to install the lower screw only to find that the ribbon cable to the t con board wasnt even hooked up....cant be that easy right??? hooked it up and put it back together...plugged it back in and OMG!!!...i wish they were all that...

you all have given me great insight to the problem..........removed the metal frame and took a chance.........left side came back up........kudos screen looks great.......will reinstall with and then without the pad........wish i could just put a heat gun on the strip that is the issue......most outer ribbon to the screen.......hoping for the best thanks again

i am having a problem....same model.....but sound no picture.......found lvds cable from input board to tcon had several wires that looked severd from the connector....is this normal....i am thinking not.....thanks

First time here to post, so dont think im trying to be the expert but I have repaired several of these same problems, but on different models...but it comes down to the same faulted part. the IPM, which controls the voltages and signals to the rest of the y-sus. The LG 42PC3D had several caps(10Vdc 3300uf) swelled, on the main power board that caused the IPM to blow. Taking the IPM off the y-sus is time consuming, but at 45 dollars for that part, and 12 for all the caps, is alot cheaper than having a 4-500 dollar repair bill. Dont go out and buy...
