Re: One big lol of a diablotek
According to Wolf, the 1050W Diablotek actually damaged his testing equipment when it went out. So there's quality craftmanship for ya.

Re: Bad cap on Asus P5B-E
Ah crap, I guess I should have looked into that. Doesn't come as unexpected news around here then I s'pose. I'm sending the board back as it still has warranty on it. I hope I get something decent in return.

Bad cap on Asus P5B-E
Just had my 2yr 3m old Asus P5B-E go out on me, couldn't identify the problem at first, but after careful inspection I spotted a bulging and leaking cap by the SATA ports. And here's the clincher, it's a Nippon Chemicon KZG cap. I wasn't expecting that to go out. Might be my bad luck, or maybe it's a bootleg. Gonna try to get a pic uploaded soon.
Edit: Sorry, I posted this in the wrong section, some mod move it, please?Last edited by Silentbob; 07-24-2009, 05:32 PM.

Re: Corsair HX 520W heat problems
Hm... Dunno, my Corsair HX620 and TX650 run fairly cool, even with little airflow through my case. (A mid tower with not too much space in it). The HX620 is two years old fwiw.

Re: Antec advertises top quality Japanese capacitors in Signature Series PSUs
I guess I can relate to that a bit. I was unfortunate to get some real turkeys from Thermaltake back in the days when they used HEC and Sirtec for their units and they all failed within 6-12 months. After that I've sorta sworn to stay away from them, even though I think their current CWT units are much better than the craptastic stuff they sold in the past. I'd like to give Antecs Signature a try, but then it's pretty pricey and now I'm a a bit of a Corsair wh*re. ;P

Re: echo star "480w".just when you thought you had seen it all...
They must have labeled it wrong. It's probably a 480 mW PSU.
It says "Do not remove the cover under any circumstances". Then people might find out they got royally hosed on their PSU purchase.Last edited by Silentbob; 01-05-2009, 05:33 AM.

Re: Take the Corsair PSU survey!
When it comes to Corsair, I always trust them to use top quality caps anyways. But it's ok to remind them not to consider cutting costs in the future.

Re: Question about ATNG rebadged PSUs
Well, I couldn't find any decent pics of the internals of the PSU in question, but as far as I can tell, it's based on the 500 and 600W models of this design.Re: Question about ATNG rebadged PSUs

Re: Question about ATNG rebadged PSUs
Ok. These units retail for around $130-180 here in Norway (I guess you could cut the price with about 35% to get what would be an equivalent price in the US, things are normally more expensive here). They also seem to be prone to coil buzz/whine, but any PSU could start to suffer from that I guess.

Question about ATNG rebadged PSUs
Over here in Norway, there's a brand of PSU being sold under the name MIST. (500 and 600W models, sold as Cooltek other parts of Scandinavia). It's apparently manufactured by ATNG, and I seem to get the impression from posts on this forum that this manufacturer has a less than stellar track record. The MIST PSUs have garnered a lot of good criticism from review sites here, but that usually because they've never looked at the internals, nor investigated the source/background of these rebranded PSUs. Another reason for the good reviews is that they come with silent fans. (But I guess that doesn't...
