Re: AOP605 Replacement

well, they tried to but i guess it was not enough copper on the trace because most of the boards i have are like dark brown around the chips. I thought about using some tiny heatsinks on top of them but if i can go the SMD route and bottom mount it then i will just use the rf shield as the heatsink. since no one will directly answer the question then i will just buy a few and test them out. they should work from what im reading on the spec sheets. I will post an update when i know if they are a suitable replacement.

Re: AOP605 Replacement

thank you but I'm looking for a replacement i do not want to use the AOP605 that was the entire reason for my post. I want to use an updated chip that can be bought in mass quantities from sites like mouser/digikey. The AOP605 had heat issues and the SMD chip that i posted in the OP does not have that issue. Please let me know if this is a reasonable replacement. Converting the SMD to through hole is not hard at all with the adapter, and it would raise it off the board so that if it does indeed get hot it will not burn the board.

But will the above chip work? I would like to know because i have about 50 of these viewsonic monitors that have this power board in them.

Re: fuse question

what monitor and what fuse are you talking about? Alot of factors go into place.

If its SMD then most of the time i see them as fast blow. If its the main fuse right after the power input then most of those are slow-blow. It just depends on the application....

AOP605 Replacement

I am in need of about 40 AOP605 Mosfets due to the fact that they have been discontinued and i do not trust ebay. I have been searching for a compatible replacement for them. I have not found one that is a 1:1 replacement but i did find one that "Should" work only problem is that it is SMD not Throughhole.

My question is Would this part: IRF7389TRPBF be compatible with this part AOP605 If so...

sorry to dig, I had a tv come in with a similar issue. I tested the diodes and i replaced the transformers and it still acts like its just not sending the power on signal. any ideas?

Nevermind, I retested my transformers and 1 of the new ones that i put in was bad.

well i am about to recap about 60 of these machines and only about 1/8th of them have had PSU issues.

I will do my normal routine and look in every PSU but replacing every cap in the psu is not cost effictive so that will not happen. most likely the ones with bad PSU's will be trashed.

The way that my company looks at it is this.
A new computer is 500 dollars
A re-capped old computer = 20 dollars
A Dell repair with no warranty is 100 dollars plus at that time we can get the extended warranty for...

Sure enough the PSU had 2 bad 2200uf 10v caps in it oddly enough the caps in the psu are rated at 80c and not at 105c like the rest. that will change!

thanks for the heads up on that one.

Would these work for replacements? I have to buy from mouser as that is the company that our company is in a contract with.

the ones you linked to are way different rating's than what i need.

my question is what do i need? im not quite sure how to convert this board.

here are the caps that i need to replace.the four large circles in the middle of the board are the 2200's and the 5 smaller circles are the 1800's...

• Changing to Polymer Capacitors Help!

ok so my company has decided to let me repair all the bad dell optiplex 745 motherboards, Now all these mother boards have 1 major issue with them bad caps. there are 4-9 bad caps on every one of these and they went bad because of heat.

What i want to do is replace the current caps with Polymer Capacitors to avoid alot of the current issues is this possible?

the current values of the caps are
5 of - 1800uf | 6.3v | 20%
4 of - 2200uf | 6.3v | 20%

I found some Polymer ones on mouser that have the same rating as the current ones can i...
