  • Re: EP-8RDA3 rev2.1 bad caps? (+fotos)

    Dear Per,
you're right, it was an 8RDA3+ model. I didn't recap it in the end, since i got an offer for a retail Asus board for half the price, which was only 10Euros more than the price for new capacitors.
The guy at the store also said that he has seen a few 8RDA3 boards fail lately, and some did indeed have bulging capacitors... He also agreed that the failure of my board was most likely due to bad caps. But I can't really tell for sure...
So good luck with your board, I'm sorry I can't give a definite answer.

Forgot to mention the brands and specs of capacitors used on this board:

    Hermei 2200uF 16v
    OST 3300uF 6.3v
    GSC 1500uf 6.3v
    GSC 1000uf 6.3v
+ a few smaller GSC caps

All brands are mentioned in the "bad manufacturers" thread...

    Hello everybody,

Could you please give me your opinion on the capacitors shown in the attached fotos? They don't look as cleary bulged out from the center as other shots in this forum, but still, though the "quarters" look bulged out to me... There is no leakage of electrolyte to be seen or smelled, though, and the bases seem ok, too. (Note: the caps are still perfectly upright, the fotos just have a little wide-angle distortion)

    System symptoms:
After running flawlessly for almost two years the system began to just turn off randomly. I had to unplug...
