Re: Samsung 244T BLACK screen
.01 above zero. But I'm very good at following instructions. I also looked at the board under a shield at the top of the monitor just above the main logic and ps boards. Found one fuse, checked for continuity, ok. Nothing looked bad. I do recall when the monitor functioned properly it became very hot at the top middle.

Re: Samsung 244T BLACK screen
Bud,
with the monitor plugged in at the ac jack I measure 0.6 VDC at the fuses on the inverter.

Re: Samsung 244T BLACK screen
I found the fuses on the inverter board and they appear to be ok. I also read Two Seconds to Black. Although when I turn on the monitor there is nothing but a black screen I did use a flashlight at an angle to the screen but did not see any image. Also the green led power light stays steady on. I also noticed that their is NO heat generated from the monitor, its cold to the touch.

Re: Samsung 244T BLACK screen
Hi,
I'm smart enough to replace bad caps; but, not smart enough to fully understand what you're talking about. Which board is the inverter the middle one? How do I check for 24VDC?
I only see one fuse; its on the ps board. I did remove it and tested it for continuity with my meter.
Thanks for the response.

Samsung 244T BLACK screen
Enough searching and reading.
Recently my Samsung 244T monitor started acting screwy. On booting up my Mac Mini the screen would remain black (blank). At first I wasn't sure if it was the monitor or the Mac. Sometimes the monitor would come on after letting the computer alone for sometime. Sometimes the monitor would work just fine for days. Until yesterday. Yesterday the monitor went blank while I was away from it. When I returned I found the monitor screen blank and the case cold to the touch. I noticed the green led power light was illuminated with a constant light. I tried a...

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 244T screen goes crazy
Mystery solved! About eight months ago I decided to use my my Mac Mini as a music server. In a attempt to reduce vibrations and resonance I placed a 3.5" square box full of pennies on the Mac. Just last week I removed the pennies and disassembled the Mini to a degree to see if I could see if any fault was visible. I realized that the Mini being so packed with no room to spare that maybe the weight of the pennies was just enough to cause contact of parts after the Mini was warmed up. I reassembled the Mini and booted up and let the...

Samsung Syncmaster 244T screen goes crazy
I recently replaced ALL caps except the largest cap on the ps board. Monitor works fine. Except through out the day, and this has been happening for over a year but becoming worse; out of nowhere the monitor screen goes haywire. The screen locks up and displays horizontal lines of mixed colors and sizes before the computer (Mac Mini late 2012) reboots. This occurs when the monitor and or computer are hot or cold.
I have been suspecting my neighbor(s) of RFI/EMI. Sometimes it happens when one of them comes home. Talking to them to see if they are turning on electrical appliances, etc is...Last edited by pixelphoto; 01-08-2015, 10:22 PM.

What is foaming stuff on some parts on pwr board?
I've just replaced some caps in my monitor and there is a white firm but spongy substance affixed to a number of parts. It was necessary to use a xacto blade to slice through several to enable the removal of 3 caps. Is it there to reduce resonance and vibration? What is it? Is it that foaming stuff used in electrical outlets as insulation. Is there a substitute? Is it necessary to replace it?
Thanks,
Cheers, Marvin
