  • Re: JVC 42" Thick Vertical Lines (Samsung S42SD-YD05 Pannel)

Thanks for the advice guys, I have not been able to locate a buffer board at all in the UK, I have however found a another board that looks very similar. Does anyone know if this is likely to work, or am I wasting my time?

First Picture is the original board, second is the similar one...

I have removed the g-buffer board from the tv and inspected with the limited resources I have to hand at the moment! I have seen a cheap g board close by so may go and collect tomorrow and see what happens!

I will try to replace the g-board but I wil not get my hopes up because something is telling me this is more serious!

If it turns out to be the pannel, and I can source a relatively cheap replacement, is the swap over straight forward - I have worked with smaller LCD's before but never...

thanks for your help, I am a student at the moment and only really wanted this TV for myself (HD not an issue) I have also been able to locate a pannel for quite a reasonable price

I have enclosed some more pictures, It seems that the long thin board that the ribbons connect to is called "G-Buffer" but the ribbons also have chips and metal heat-sinks? attached, I have tried to re-solder and check for any dry joints on the ribbon but this has made no difference.

I have tried re-seating the x connector for the corresponding section of the screen and it has made no difference. I have also tried swapping ribbon cables from the main board to the G buffer and E buffer but this has made no difference, would it be likely to be the g-buffer board at all or is this most likely a new pannel?

    Thanks

NOT sure if it is worth mentioning, but the TV is also making a buzzing sound, this seems to come from the PSU / Main board area, not sure if this is normal or...

  • JVC 42" Thick Vertical Lines (Samsung S42SD-YD05 Pannel)

    Hello,

I have just acquired a JVC 42" tv that has thick black and green vertical lines down the left side of the screen, I have checked all of the ribbon cables for loose connections but everything seems ok. I have been reading some other threads posted here that say this could be one of the X drivers. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would be very grateful, this is my first TV repair!

I have attached a picture of the vertical lines that are also appearing when the menu button is pressed.

    Thanks

    Alex...
