    started a topic psu mlcc

    psu mlcc

i came across dead seasonic prime psu with shorted mlcc caps on the modular board, this is the third time i encounter this problem, i usually just removed the shorted mlcc and not replace them since theres a lot of caps around the psu i used to think those mlcc probably does not matter much, i have no equipment to test or proper knowledge for this. i just reuse those psu on low end machines. but few days ago one of the machines have its 2 sticks of ram died, it keep on getting blue screens. 2 sticks of ram died at the same time, its probably something else and not just the ram. in the past when...

a friend of mine offer 2 psu for 40 usd, both used for less than a month, ( hes paranoid that those psu would kill his system )

now i have both psu on hand and im paranoid also if these psu would kill my remaining components

    1.huntkey greenpower 550 watt? (6550hg) psu
    2.huntkey APFC 700 watt psu ( similar components to huntkey win7 )

    which of these...

  • Re: Weird PSU

i removed c33 to take a closer since its different with the other caps same brand but with different label color (blue) , also the capacitor in 5v rail is also different its OST i guess this psu have previous capacitor failure in 5v and 3.3 v rails and been replaced. im using the psu right now and its working fine tested played heavy game (metro LL) for almost 3 hours and only a very little drop in 12v rail 11.988 to 11.877 my only concern right now is those caps that are replaced if they are in correct specs. also i really dont know where to find good caps in my area...

    internal number is mtp5002
anyone can tell me where to find any datasheet or information about this psu i tried google but i cant find good information or perhaps some experts are already familiar with this psu

  • Re: LCD Problem when hot

by inspecting more the main problem is the lcd panel , it is not flat , it is curved in the middle, which causes massive back-light bleeding, i reduced the bleeding to minimum by adding layers of tape each side of the lcd screen adding small gap between the lcd and the light source , the power board uses not just crap capacitors but the super crappy one , i doubt if it will even last a year running 24/7.
thanks for those who tried to help me ...

damn i was so stupid i loosen screws and it got fixed, it was not the high temperature, it was just the lcd panel is pressed too much

  • Re: LCD Problem when hot

the transformer is the one that's getting too hot , sorry i cant take pictures i dont have a good camera device , but the problem is like " light bleed" or "lcd bleed" on the area that's getting hot.

  • Re: LCD Problem when hot

im also thinking of adding a small fan , but that would cause dust buildup and yes its running really hot , i guess the components used are underrated , im planning to put a thick sheet of metal under the power board , with some insulation . will that prevent the power board heat to reach the lcd?

  • LCD Problem when hot

hello i recently purchased a 23 inch led tv and im using it now as computer monitor, i got this thing for so cheap that i agreed that it doesn't have any warranty at all , they sell all their stuffs since they are closing their business.

the only problem this tv have is when it is used for long period the power board heats up a lot and the part of the lcd screen which is underneath this very hot power board changes its color , its getting brighter than the rest of the screen and looks like being color inverted, its more noticeable when i play games with dark areas, any way to fix...

  • Re: PSU overloaded?

its working fine no reboots no stability issues
    12 v reading 11.99 to 12.04 v dropping to 11.93 at heavy usage
    5v reading 4.99 to 5.02
    i opened the psu today
2 caps are leaking some kind of oil on its top
i also noticed the fan is running very very slow i cant even feel the air coming from the back of the psu
replaced the fan with .15 A 12v fan and it wont spin
voltage from the fan controller in the psu is 4.6v even heavy loaded - so i removed the thermistor and tested with multimeter it change resistance when heated...
