Re: I need help diagnosing my Samsung hl-s5659W
I have some video. Not sure if it will provide any more info to help figure out what is wrong with the tv. Not sure if it's frowned upon to embed videos, so I will just post the links:

First video shows the power button on the front, and the clicking noise coming from the power board. The tv is plugged into the wall, and I am not pressing anything. It keeps trying to turn on, but can't for some reason.

Re: I need help diagnosing my Samsung hl-s5659W
It is in fact a DLP. I was given the tv from it's original owner. It started giving him trouble about a year and a half after he bought it, and instead of trying to fi it, he just went and bought a new tv, while this one sat in his garage not in use for a few years. I would like to try and fix it, if it is a small fix.
The tv turned on one time,a nd the picture was fine, so that is promising.
There is a power button in the center bottom of the outer bezel, underneat the tv screen that lights up green or...

I have my tv apart; what am I looking for? PICTURES INCLUDED
Please see this thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=17698
for a comprehensive idea of what is wrong with my tv. It would not let me edit my original post to add the pictures.
The first picture is of the whole back of the tv. Do I need to remove the top back panel as well, or is everything I need in this lower section?
The second picture is from the side. Is this the power board?

Re: I need help diagnosing my Samsung hl-s5659W
How tough is this?
Anywhere on this site where I can find a how to for this?
I'm failry proficient in connectivity and what not, and have done extensive car AV work, but never with TVs. Just want to make sure I'm not doing anything unnecessary....

Re: I need help diagnosing my Samsung hl-s5659W
Ok. here is what I have:
- power cord is plugged into the tv, but not the wall
- I plug the power cord into the wall
- power button in bottom center of tv becomes lit up with red words "STAND BY/TEMP" and a click is heard
- screen goes from black, to having a sort-of "glow" like it has turned on, just waiting to populate a picture
- power button now goes from the red "STAND BY/TEMP" to green "LED" and is blinking

I need help diagnosing my Samsung hl-s5659W
Just got a tv from a friend. He bought it in 2008; it's a 2007 model. He said he has not used it for the past 2-3 years due to the issues it is having, which are minor from what he says.
When the tv turns on, it works fine; picture is clear and looks normal. Sound is good.
The problem is, when you press the power button on the front, it will click, and not turn on. It had not been on for a few years, and when we moved it, plugged it in, and hit the power button, it turned on fine. We turned it off and tried to turn it back on, and that's when the clicking began. We...
