• Re: Bios Request Getac B300G6 for admin pass wipe

UPDATE
This Getac B300G6 USAF bios is a little cool.
There are two Bios differences that I have found so far.

1) The Admin password can be "cleared" but there must be a default admin password that it falls back on.
When I cleared the password, I was still prompted for a password when entering the bios.
After reprogramming the bios a couple of times, I decided that I needed to make sure it had an admin password .

Thank you very much.

Hardware1, You did it! That was the password to get into the Bios.

peste, Thank you for finding and clearing the part of the Bios image that contained data. I learned much from it.

If anyone else is interested, I discovered this Getac B300G6 is from the USAF. These laptops have a modified Bios, not the Bios that Getac uses.
I am not sure the differences but I have a Getac bios update file and I am interested to find out.

Thank again....

• Bios Request Getac B300G6 for admin pass wipe

Hello.

Bios request for Getac B300G6.
I am including my bios from the eeprom.
It is a bios by INSYDE Corp. and Getac says there are no password hints.

I have a Getac B300G6 that is supervisor/admin locked.
I can not get into the bios settings and I hope a replacement bios.bin will clear this password.

I have learned much in the week I have been working on this.
I read the bios with a ch134a spi reader, looked for strings, used tools like AMITSESetup, and I just did not make much headway.
I just erased and rewrote the bios back...

I'm Fraser.

I am a programmer by trade
but I have been a Quality Analyst for the same product these past 9 years.

As hobbies, I have been messing with computer hardware, microcontrollers, and general electronics for a very long time.

Writing code can be easy. Fixing a radio can be easy. Removing a bios password was easy 20 years ago. I guess it is not now.

That is why I am here but not why I will stay .

This "feels" like the open source...
