Re: Surface Laptop 3 Model 1868 Bios password
Don't bother, I am also a n00b and got as far as finding the chip [2 hour teardown]. This unit won't clip on & you will need to de-solder and probably do something horrible to connect it up for the flashing procedure.
I ended up removing the harddrive, cloning another laptop's OS onto it then plugging it back in. Not ideal, but will get the laptop up & running again (given that's all you want to do)....

Hey @peste - reckon I could use your attached .bin BIOS file with a CH341A programmer to flash my surface laptop?

Re: Surface Laptop 3 Model 1868 Bios password
Anyone know where I can get a clean copy of the BIOS firmware before I start taking apart my laptop?
I followed links here, but was given an MSI which is junk when I extract it:

Re: Surface Laptop 3 Model 1868 Bios password
Yeah I realised that first bit. So, what's the difference between A full bios reading and the output of fptw64.exe -BIOS -D?
not trying to be thick, just know that I don't know...

Re: Surface Laptop 3 Model 1868 Bios password
Hello! I also have a password-locked BIOS, I spent most of my afternoon reading through this thread, before realising that I am in possession of a surface laptop 3 NOT a surface pro 3:

Anyway, given the look of this thread, I'm going to need to do some editing magic & flash the BIOS.
I have read as many form posts (both here and on the win-raid forum), but they all seem to end with "oh yeah post it and someone will remove...
