Re: Dell E172fpb
Anyone looking to get rid of their dead board? I could really use the parts since we cant seem to identify the model number of the faulty transformers. Please let me know - thanks!

Re: How to test a transformer with only a DMM?
Thanks.. I was able to build a simple 555 timer circuit on a breadboard and use the capacitors in the circuit to test to see if they worked, and them seemed to work fine. I am guessing one of the transformers are bad but I am still not sure how to be positive about this. I also can't find a part number for replacement transformers either. Maybe I should just get a new additional monitor when it finally dies again, haha.

Re: How to test a transformer with only a DMM?
Thanks for the help so far. Any idea how I can check capacitors? My DMM doesn't have a capacitor option.. know of any tricks? I heard of something with 555 timers and I have some of those lying around.
I really just want to find out of those transformers are bad or not and check the capacitors too.

Re: How to test a transformer with only a DMM?
Its actually for a dell e172fpb monitor and there is a whole thread about it here: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1303. Read my last 3 posts there at the very end.. I replaced the transistors and then blew again a few days later so they said it could be the capacitors or transformers, but nobody has the transformer part number so I am shooting in the dark here.Re: How to test a transformer with o...?t=1303.

Re: How to test a transformer with only a DMM?
Sorry, never really got into transformers so i'm lost even on the basics. Do you happen to have a pin diagram showing which pins are the input ones and output ones? And would I use the diode test to test for continuity on the multimeter? Thanks for the help.

How to test a transformer with only a DMM?
Hey, does anyone know how to test a transformer with only a digital multimeter?

Re: Dell E172fpb
I took it all apart again and found that Q760 and Q759 were dead, again. These were new ones I just installed a few days ago. Any idea why they keep getting damaged?...

Re: Dell E172fpb
Damn, spoke too soon. It has been working for 3-4 days now, but now the green light just blinks. Here is what has happened so far: Monitor died and would only turn on for a second or two before going black. Green light would stay on. I replaced those 4 transistors, put it back together and it worked fine for a few days. Woke up this morning and turned it on and the green light is blinking with no picture on the screen. What is the next step I should take?...

Re: Dell E172fpb
So with the help of this forum and the site http://www.lcdrepair.us/Installation.html I was able to replace those 4 transistors and repair my monitor. It has been on for only 5 minutes, but I am hoping it lasts. Thank you for the help here - only cost me $12 for the 4 transistors plus I bought a desoldering sucker tool for $8. $20 is way better than a new $170 monitor.Re: Dell E172fpb<br /> <br /> So w...ir my monitor.
