I have a job that I am trying to re-format...
The PC has 1tb drive on it and works with no issues (win10)
I switched this drive with an SSD, tried to format with Windows 10,
. Tried usual method (WDS, that's how I format computers all the time) pc reboots right after copying files, first reboot at windows logo. Then goes into reboot loop until the blue screen.
. Tried to install from USB, DVD etc. it freezes on setup loading windows logo.
. Tried both legacy and uefi methods, same happens.
If I go back to old disk windows loads everything...

I compared both dumps and noticed crypted password was removed, thank you for the help. It was very valuable. But considering the work I rather make a hole right under the keyboard to reach the BIOS chip

I finally reached the BIOS chip and took 3 dumps. In the past I cleared multiple passwords but for different laptops mostly hp and dells. Below is the BIN file for the BIOS, what are the steps to take to clear the passwords since I have multiple laptops?
Is it the same method as the poster explains (please see the attached picture)
Will I loose any DMI data?

The reason I am trying because I have seen people offering this service, they just ask for dumps (without taking the laptop apart) with software and they provide a password. They ask for complete model number and dump. That means there is a way....Leave a comment:

Hi everyone,
I have a CF-31 with BIOS password.
I followed posts from forum and followed [url]https://gist.github.com/en4rab/550880c099b5194fbbf3039e3c8ab6fd[/url] as guide.
I downloaded both Universal BIOS backup toolkit and AMI BIOS flasher (AFUWINGUI.EXE) to obtain BIOS dumps. (Uni. Bios backup results in 8 mb file and the AMI BIOS flasher results 2mb file)
I used Amidecyrptor and AMIDSEDecyript with no luck, the python one gives gibberish decode as password and the AMIdecyrptor gives nothing at all....Leave a comment:

Thank you, all done! Flashed 16mb. I was skeptical about 32mb dump because some people asked to post those as well. Also a question about surestart. What does 32mb chip hold? Is there a copy of locked bios? (that could be restored if sure start activated and detects tampering or difference between backup and actual)...Leave a comment:

I can see 3 BIOS chips on laptop, one is smallest in size, the one in the middle is 25c256jveq winbond and the last one next to it is another winbond 16mbs. I have ch341a programmer.
My understanding I also need to reprogram the big winbond chip (I think it is 32mbs). Can my ch341a read this chip?
Also which chips do I need to dump? (32 and 16?)
Last question can I use RCUnlocker for these, if so which dumps needs to be treated (32 and 16?) ?Leave a comment:

Sorry my mistake what I wanted to say is that dumped then unlocked. We are on the same page.
I am done with my batch now but will receive more on Monday. I had to use same bin file (first one in previous post) 4 times and I honestly don't think that another programmer will do anything different. Because like I told you I can dump and unlock but will not turn on. But you checked the files and you said they were ok. The only bin works for me is the one in previous post (the magic .bin)...

But look at the evidence, I can re-program the micron chip with "some other dump, other than what I have (eg. downloaded from forum)" but when I flush with the original&unlocked bin computer doesnt power on. What would you think. I would think 2 things either I cannot properly read the chip (which you checked and said my dump is ok so it is not the case) or properly write to chip (which I can with some other dump). It is really annoying, I just used UEFItool to inject BIOS from support site to original dump and programmed the micron chip. It booted up right away but to my surprise in manufacturing mode with lots of missing info (dmi tool has to be used) but it is not practical.. Please refer to #123 for the file. As I said before I have two types of these laptops, 1st is w licence winbond chips (no problems here), second type is w7 pro licences with micron chips. I have problems with these chips.
