Re: Samsung UN65NU6900FXZA Vertical Gray/Dim Area
~$130/ea for me, *if they let you buy one alone*. If they only sell in bulk, it's cheaper to buy a new tv......

Re: Samsung UN65NU6900FXZA Vertical Gray/Dim Area
Yeah, as expected, rotated diffuser and not up to snuff. Add in that led's on strip aren't lit up evenly, could be strip, could be board, but doesn't matter since I've yet to find a source for a new diffuser. Samsung won't give me a part number and I have yet to find a part supplier that has the item available or the necessary information to look up the part. So, if anyone has a suggestion on how/where to find the part, that would be great, otherwise the remains are going in the trash......

Re: Samsung UN65NU6900FXZA Vertical Gray/Dim Area
Update - supplier is pointing the finger at power supply. I won't have time to take a look at that until Sunday evening (at best), but off the cuff seems up in the air that the right side strip partially failed, then right after installing new strips the left side of the left strip failed within twelve hours and the right side of the left strip overheated and damaged the diffuser.
Thoughts?

Re: Samsung UN65NU6900FXZA Vertical Gray/Dim Area
New tv already in place (replaced w/ LG OLED). That said, it's one thing for the led strip to simply fail, it's another for a replacement strip (other side) to last less than 24 hours and burn the diffuser in the process. I have reached out to the supplier of the replacement strips and have yet to get a response**.
If this is a commonly occurring issue, it would be interesting to know what percent of the tv's have this problem and was this a known issued prior to production.

Re: Samsung UN65NU6900FXZA Vertical Gray/Dim Area
Well, it turns out that the new strips (one specifically) did just that. Installed them, everything looked spot on and back to normal, unfortunately one of the new strips didn't last twelve hours before failing on one side *and* overheating/burning/cracking the diffuser on the other half of that strip.
The big question is how/why the heck did a brand new strip fail followed by is it possible to get a new diffuser? I've taken a quick stab at it and have yet to find a source/vendor that has that part. Disappointing...

No. TV is plugged into Panamax M5300-PM and tv is turned on/off on it's own accord via macros.
Yes, but other devices are on separate banks so the tv is isolated. On this specific power unit, the only other devices are Yamaha Aventage RX-A1000, Sonos Port, ATV 4K, everything else is connected to two more power units.Re: Samsung UN65NU6900FXZA Vertical Gray/Dim Area

Re: Samsung UN65NU6900FXZA Vertical Gray/Dim Area
I used these from ShopJimmy. The strips are installed with double-sided tape, can't verify that it is indeed thermal, but it came preinstalled on the strips. What is the reason for needing to reduce backlight current in the power supply?
What is odd is that we turned the tv off when we went to dinner last night, and when we returned we turned the tv back on and the section of LED's that were no longer...

Re: Samsung UN65NU6900FXZA Vertical Gray/Dim Area
Yeah, I now think that's the case. I put up the post to get some quick insight before I had a chance to completely dissect the design of the device. As it turns out, this only has the bottom/top *two* LED strips (finally took the time to look at the internal specs this evening), so that means the issue at hand is completely feasible. Had I known there were only two, my initial impression would have been much different, but it's been roughly eight years since I did a repair on one of our tv's, so of the cuff I was still thinking...

Samsung UN65NU6900FXZA Vertical Gray/Dim Area
My gut instinct is that the panel needs to be replaced, but looking for outside opinion on any other possible cause, hopefully without the excessive cost to fix/replace. I'm going to take the time over the weekend to take a look at T-con and check voltages, but again, given the pattern on the screen, odds are slim, if none, that is any potential contributor to the issue observed.
Thoughts? Much obliged, and Happy Holidays!...
