Re: LENOVO BIOS AUTO-PATCHER for Supervisor Password Removal
Especially if you have already burned a chip, I suggest to check the data sheet of your flash device if it can handle 5v. If not, be careful because the CH341A uses 5V for all data pins, regardless if you use the 3.3V pin to power the flash.
Thankfully there are many tutorials out there, which are easily showing you how to mod the CH341A to use also 3.3V on the data pins. I suggest you the video "Volt-modding the CH341a Mini Programmer" from Adamant IT on YouTube.

Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.
Hi Markus,
I had the same problem on a Lenovo T450s (Winbond 25Q128FV).
I tried the following steps:

Tape down the temper switch and remove the hard disk (I forgot it the first time).
Re-flash the patched binary and started the notebook. The patching process didn't even start ans it looked like nothing was done. Maybe because TPM was already reset. Therefore, I don't know if this step is really needed.
Re-flash the original file.
Powered-on the notebook.
After I saw it started correctly I removed...Last edited by syscall; 12-08-2022, 06:16 AM.

Re: LENOVO BIOS AUTO-PATCHER for Supervisor Password Removal
Hi artani,
Have you tried to flash it again? Did you hold (or taped) down the temper switches and removed the hard disk for the whole patch process?...

Re: LENOVO BIOS AUTO-PATCHER for Supervisor Password Removal
I don't think so (if you mean with gen9 the X1 Carbon). Because it has also the 11th Generation Intel® Core™ i5-1135G7 and Markus1741 mentioned that only 4th to 8th gen of Intel CPUs are supported:...

Do you mean we should show a warning before patching the file or just adjusting the message of the --howto flag and in the README?Re: LENOVO BIOS AUTO-PATCHER for Supervisor Password Removal

Sorry, I zipped it again. Can you try it again please?
Unfortunately, I couldn't find a way to edit my previous post....

Re: LENOVO BIOS AUTO-PATCHER for Supervisor Password Removal
Unfortunately, I'd already the permissions set.
The issue was caused by some files I forgot to remove from the DXE folder after experimenting. Shame on me.
As I've read in this thread that I was not the only one who ran into this issue.
To give something back to this awesome community and thread, I've adjusted the script a little bit:
* Added support for MacOS.
* Added a README.md with the content of the TO's first post.
* Added some additional...

Strange, I also used a debian machine. But good to know that the script is working with my binary. I will investigate what might went wrong. Maybe will also apply your nice German translations. :-)
BTW: The patch worked like a charm. Thanks again!
Greetings to Bavaria...

Hi @Markus1741,
thank you very much for your support. I'll try out the file.
Did I something wrong or have you patched it manually?...

Re: LENOVO BIOS AUTO-PATCHER for Supervisor Password Removal
Hi awesome badcaps community,
I've also tried to patch the file.
Unfortunately, it complains about my file. I've made a backup 3 times, compared all files and also verified the backups with:
flashrom --verify
Is someone else able to patch it?
Best

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hi all,
I'm syscall and are a passionated professional software developer. I love to hack things and teach them to do things what they are not designed for. This is for me the easiest way to really learn how the things are working in detail.

Currently, I try to find out how to extend UEFI with drivers which are accessing and manipulating the secure nvram and reset TPMs. Now I found this awesome forum and am reading one article after one.
