will it work for any AMI bios?

I was thinking of just replacing the blown chip - are you meaning the board itself may have other issues? Or could replacing the IC do the trick? I know its not the latest revision but a $20 repair is much more tempting
I could check the caps and fets on the board to see if anything is high esr or shorted.

Has anyone seen this? Looks like part of the chip exploded but the pins seem fine. A spider was living nearby but doubt it had anything to do with it. I will try to replace the chip itself but wondering if something caused it to happen which may kill the new chip. So any thoughts on what could have done this? If the chip itself failed then only replacing it should do the trick but wanted to make sure there wasn't something else going on here. Thanks...Leave a comment:
