Re: Antec vp450p won't power up the computer
On the scale of 2000M ohm the reading is 1.1, so I guess the capacitor isn't shorted out.
Is it safe to assume that nothing else was harmed except the fuse?

Re: Antec vp450p won't power up the computer
I wasn't careful enough while checking the voltage on the cap and I think that I shorted something out,
because there was a loud bang when I turned the PSU switch on and something that has a shell of glass blew up
What was that? A fuse?...Last edited by BrAvE_26; 03-15-2014, 08:25 AM.

Antec vp450p won't power up the computer
Hi All!
So I got this Antec vp450p from a friend of mine and he said that it doesn't work.
I opened it up to see if there are any bloated caps or some sort of other physical damage to the internal components but it actually seemed clean in there...
Next I tried to start the PSU manually by connecting the Green and the Ground together and it worked.
I checked all the voltages and every thing was correct, including the Grey +5V.
I double checked the motherboard setup with a...Last edited by BrAvE_26; 03-14-2014, 01:42 PM.

Re: Proview 2200w shimmering display
So the minute you said "Timing Control" I remembered that I had a problem with the ribbon connecting between the logic board and the Tcon board on an old Dell laptop display I once fixed.
Before I tested the 2 VGA ports this monitor has, I tried to reconnect this ribbon on the Tcon an logic boards sides just for my peace and quiet.
It worked like magic, now the monitor works on the DVI and VGA ports!
I'm going to let it work for a few good hours before I can call this a fixed monitor
Thanks for the help!!!...Last edited by BrAvE_26; 03-13-2014, 05:52 AM.

Re: Proview 2200w shimmering display
The menus do jitter the same exact way...
Although when I unplug the DVI cable I get a clear "No Signal" message...
Whats the Tcon board?
The logic board dose have a few electrolytic capacitors BTW, but they "seem" fine.

Proview 2200w shimmering display
Hi all,
So I found this monitor near the garbage the other day with a blown power cable on the back.
I took it apart and replaced all the capacitors with new ones, fired it up and the screen lit up with a message "please connect monitor to computer".
Grate, I assembled the monitor and connected it to a computer but then I got this shimmering on the screen.
I tried to search the internet for something similar but without any luck...
Any suggestions on whats causing this?
I attached pics of the problem + the power board with the...Last edited by BrAvE_26; 03-12-2014, 12:04 PM.

Re: SyncMaster 931BW no power
I found an MBR10150CT on a broken board and it doesn't short out!!!
I'm going to try and replace mine and see if it worksand post back!
YES YES YES!
It works!!!! THANK you all never could I have done it without your help!
PS.
I hear a very very faint high pitched sound from the power board, should I be concerned?Re: SyncMaster 931BW no power

Re: SyncMaster 931BW no power
Checked all the diodes and zeners and what do you know.... the D201 the one with the heat-sink is shorted I think...
It's model is MBR10150CT and all the pin combinations short out(1-2,1-3,2-3)
so is this my little problem!?Re: SyncMaster 931BW no power

Re: SyncMaster 931BW no power
Removed the diodes, one way goes of scale the other is 170 on the both of them.Last edited by BrAvE_26; 11-23-2012, 06:29 PM.

Re: SyncMaster 931BW no power
Both diodes read the same 167, and when I reverse the leads I get 1770 on both diodes.
Checked the joints on the DM0565 for short circuit and they aren't touching....
What should I do now?

Re: SyncMaster 931BW no power
Checked the solder joints, seems OK.
Checked all the caps for the right position and make/series:
1000mF, 470mF, 330mF all are Nichicon make, series PET
As for the diodes, which numbered 202 and 203(sorry for the poor picture from before),
when I connect the black lead to the cathode and red to the anode I get a read of 167 Ohms but according to this I should get 1K +-25%
so I don't really know if it's OK or not....
Connected it all up...

Re: SyncMaster 931BW no power
Yep, got the same results with the new capacitors.
But I didn't try to connect it all up again after I replaced the DM0565 power switch

Re: SyncMaster 931BW no power
LOL sorry I thought the title says it all
I have no power what so ever, no flickering, no power led indication, no sounds just dead.
Didn't try to connect it to a video source.

SyncMaster 931BW no power
Hi all!
I'm new to this forum and I want to say that it was a great help for me with couple of old LCD's, and all I had to do is to search!
Now to the topic, I followed the troubleshoot here with no luck
My power board is of a different model PWI1704SV rev1.3
I connected just the power board without anything else and got a 4.9-4.95V on the 5.1V pins, 0V on the 13V pin and also on all the other pins.
So the problem is with the power board and I thought to myself that it's a good thing...Last edited by BrAvE_26; 11-23-2012, 05:13 AM.
