I finally managed to recover my password. In case someone else has the same problem, here is a short summary what I did.

1) Get a bios dump e.g. with the Universal BIOS Backup Toolkit
2) Open the bios dump file with a hex editor (e.g. HxD)
3) Scroll to offset 29000(h); here you find your password (encoded as keyboard scancodes as explained in this post [url]https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpost.php?p=1085040&postcount=1005[/url])
4) Decode the password using the scancodes on this page ([url]https://www.win.tue.nl/~aeb/linux/kbd/scancodes-1.html[/url])....

I'm looking for some advice getting the bios password for my Lenovo G710 (got it from my dad and he can't remember having set it ...). Any help would be very much appreciated.
