Found a loose neutral wire on the light part of the switch, that I guess was only making contact when I looked at it lol

That should be 120v, missed a zero. We have put a plug with bare accessible wires/terminals in and measured

Puzzling Electrical problem
OK, At work (I'm a maintenance mechanic/technician), we have a 120v (USA) twist-lock receptacle that is 1. split into 2 separate circuits, and 2. Showing 120v between hot to neutral, and 12-v hot to Ground.0v N-G, so far so good. The motor that plugs into it does not work, but works elsewhere. There is not much of a circuit, just a breaker, on/off switch, fuse, outlet, and wiring ran maybe 10 feet or so.
And yes, I used my fluke clamp-on to check everything. Can someone explain why I have voltage but nothing runs when plugged in???...

Re: Heat pump tumble dryer regas
If both the large (suction) and the smaller (discharge) lines are the same temperature, then most likely you are out of refrigerant. Look around all of the copper lines, especially the soldered/welded joints for an oily residue, thats where your leak is.
Be very careful if you connect gauges to it. Refrigerant burns are not fun.
Can you post a picture of the machines data plate? that tells alot of information.

Re: Aerogarden
Ive been using the wall wart for another 12v thing i have. Ive marked all of the traces for the lights, just need time to mess around more. Im getting close to digging out an arduino and using that lol

Re: Aerogarden
I tried to get the lights with my power supply, and they didnt work. Its a harvest 360, about 8 inches in diameter (203.2 mm for you metric folk ) The leds are just on a piece of metal (i think), and 2 wires come down to the board.
I did notice fb1 looks weird. there is a chunk of solder on it. maybe it shorted something.
I'll have to trace out the circuits on the lights and check each seperately

Re: Aerogarden
Here are pics of boards...The pump runs on my power supplym but the leds dont . I've checked all leds and they work with my meter, and wires all have continuity. I checked most components on the board but found nothing weird...Last edited by Shagreobe; 04-29-2023, 04:08 PM.

Aerogarden
Hey ya'll, Anyone ever messed around with an aerogarden? It is a hydroponic growing system if you didnt know.
Anyway, the main board is not working, so me being me, im using an arduino nano instead.
Well, the problem im having is that the leds are not working. I have continuity and all, and all leds light with my meter, so Im lost.
the wall wart that came with it is 12VDC output, Im pulling out my hair, and I dont have that much left to begin with
Any ideas?

Re: Tools - Order of purchase
I would invest in a good DMM. It may save your life someday. Also, maybe a selection of common components might help

Re: Furnace board schematic
Moot point now...He decided to get a new furnace, so I have a board with a blowd cap. Ill throw it on the spare board pile in case i need a part off of it or something.
Thanks for ya'lls help

Re: Furnace board schematic
I havent looked hard at the board. just kind of obvious there is a fried cap. 104 gives me a starting place. Maybe I'll have time this weekend (yeah, right) to look at it
Oh, 1KV would cover it i would think

Furnace board schematic
hey ya'll, im looking for either a schematic or just a value for a capacitor. See attatched photo...The cap im looking for is C3 on the right side

Re: HUGE caps
Nice...Now, how can I test them? My meters only go to like 1000μF lol

HUGE caps
Tore apart a dc power supply/rectifier at work, and there were 3- 32000μF 40VDC caps in it. Any use for them before I get rid of them?

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hey Ya'll!, New guy here. Just started really playing around with electronics, mostly to help me at work. I am a maintenance technician, and mostly deal with electricity up to 460VAC, but sometimes it would be nice to actually fix something instead of sending it out.
No formal education in electronics, but have an associates in Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning, along with an Engineering Technology degree.
I served over 20 years in the United States Air Force (now retrired), where I worked as an aircraft...
