Yes, I have seen a couple of those, and am trying not to go there. I really don't want to pay then it end up being the -A version.

I'm looking for a boardview for 820-2914-B (Late 2011 17" MacBook Pro A1279). All the ones I have been able to find so far, including on this site, are for the -A variant. The component placement for each is very similar, except in the power section, which is the part I need to work on (three machines get green light on charger; one doesn't power on at all, the other two power the fans and DVD but otherwise don't power up). Any pointers to a file would be much appreciated.

Hi. I'm Steve. I'm a retired systems administrator, with background as electronics tech. I mess with old computers (Altair 8800b) and tube radios.

I came here from a web search looking for info on the three Late 2011 17" MacBook Pros I have that don't power up. I have the schematic for 820-2914-B motherboards, but the only boardview I've been able to find so far is for the 820-2914-A version, which is significantly different in the power section. If anybody sees this and can point me to the -B version, I'd appreciate...
