Good Day to All,
I hope there is someone that can assist me with my GPU. Is does not startup at. Zero fan spin. GPU not heating up at all. I have checked all fuses and voltages that I can find. The one problem (if it is even a problem) is a reading that I am getting off a mosfet. Between Pin 1 of L1014 & Pin 4 of Q4026 ( PS_VDDC_UG5_R) gives me a reading of around 645-650 ohms. Between Pin 1 of L1012, 1013, 1015 and corresponding Pin 4 on Q4020, 4023, 4029 all give a reading of 7.73kohms...

Hp OEM, it came with the laptop. I have a few here... There is only one brand of compatible PSU's that I would consider using, and they are from Astrum. They are expensive, but they work. Same with their laptop batteries. Charge port is perfect. No issues there. Like I said. Everything is stable with a 18.5v, but it is not supposed to be that way. Call me OCD, but right is right...I will work on the charging section when the replacement battery comes. My immediate issue is the startup with correct charger without battery....

Here's the thing...Any 18.5v charger switches it on OEM HP or comaptible...with or without battery. The 19.5v OEM charger does not switch it on without the battery. The spec as per HP for this laptop is 19.5v 2.31A. It is really strange, unless I have overlooked something basic.

What I am most worried about for now is the fact that the laptop will not switch on without the battery using the OEM power supply. Power light comes on for a few seconds then off. I thought it may be a BIOS issue, FLash a clean BIOS but with same result. Flashed original back.

ACPRES 3.38v
ACDET 2.75v
ACDRV is 7.45v
Seems to be a BQ 736 Ti 471. A little difficult to read..

No, The unit does not power up without the battery unless I use a 18.5v charger. I have tried with the orignal HP 19.5v charger which I have tested on another laptop and it is 100% working. What is strange, whith the 19.5v charger I get a voltage of 2.58 at the + pin on the batttery, but with the 18.5v charger is shows 11.8v. Charge voltage shoud be around 16v as it is a 4 cell 14.8v battery, or am I missing something?

HP Probook 430 G2
Hi Guys, I hope someone can assist me me. I have a HP Probook G2. It came in for not charging. When charger plugged in power light on the charge port was flickering as well as the caps lock light. Not a pattern, but inconsistent. I found a faulty mosfet on the power input which I replaced. Problem I have is that it does not start up without a battery unless I use a 18.5v charger. It does however start with the 19.5v with the battery installed, but the battery charge voltage is 2.58v. The required charger for this unit is a 19.5v of which I have tried several. The battery is bad and have ordered...

Checked BIOS battery. 3.2v. Lan, WIFI all USB working correctly. It is only on the startup that there is a delay. After boot takes place it is perfect. Successfully installed Windows and all drivers. Once booted everything is perfect... It almost seems as though something needs to heat up before progressing......

Lenovo Ideapad 100-151BD
Hi to all, I hope someone can shed some light on a laptop issue I am having. It is a Lenovo Ideapad 100-151BD. It came in as "no display". Removed and re programmed Bios chip. Laptop now does power on, but take a few minutes to display anything. Once booted it works perfectly. Battery is charging as normal. Speed is good for what it is...I even managed to update the bios with the latest from Lenovo. Still issue persists. Any ideas?

Dell Inspiron 15 POSSESSED
Hi to all the repair wizards out there... Got an interesting one, well to me anyway... Dell Inspiron 3552. TN 9GBYXN2. This is the most intermittent I have ever seen. Starts up from cold...Shuts down almost immediately. Leave it a few days...Same thing... Next time I try it will operate perfectly for hours... no issues...Even got a full Windows install out of it... I have tried with battery, without battery...Battery only , AC only...Multiple chargers...swapped RAM, Screen...managed to update the bios ( 4.4.0) via Windows even when it was in a "good state of mind"...the variations are...

POST if fine on battery. If I plug charger in, screen is perfect. Unplug the charger and I flickers and fades to black. It almost seems as if there is not enough power being provided when on battery. The battery however if in great condition. The reason I am considering the ITE IT8995 is because the USB3/USB-C ports are also affected.Last edited by Gecko-EC; 01-11-2024, 02:10 AM.

ASUS TP501UA No Display on Battery
Hi to all, Hope someone can assist me....Got an ASUS TP501U in from a client. Laptop powers on, but screen will only initialize with the charger connected.
Battery takes and holds charge just fine. Also USB ports fail after a few minutes of use.
Latest BIOS loaded. RAM swapped. HDD's removed. Just Mainboard and screen plugged in...
I am thinking ITE IT8995 chip has failed or needs a reflow...Thoughts?

The issue only occurs when the driver is loaded for the GPU. I would be fine with this, if I could force a FHD resolution....

Hi to All, I have a Thinkcentre edge 91z ( yesI know it is ancient) with a odd problem... Can load Windows 7 no problem, but as soon as I open any apps that seem to use GPU it enters a screen power saving mode. I have tried to load Win 10 and Win 11 but the same problem occurs as soon as the desktop apprears. I have updated the bios to the newest avaialble. Thoughts anyone?
