  • Re: Toshiba Satellite - Locks up when plugged in

What do you get for an output on the screen when it freezes? and when the unit freeze does it restart after or what? you have to explain further.

but one customer came to me 2 years ago with this symptoms and I tried everything I had on mind (without having the knowledge about this fix procedure here) and somehow I did install WinXP successfully, and did some trick like start antivirus, or a game or something to make the CPU busy like that and it stays for a couple of hours but thats not a solution.

Thank you so much to the person who made the solution to this big problem.

I just replaced a Nec Tokin 0E128 from my customer's Toshiba Satellite M200

    with 2 pcs. 330 e71(330uf 2.5v), and 4 pcs. NEa gJ8 (220uf 4v) which equivalent to 660uf+880uf = 1540uf, Works Perfect as of the moment.
All the Capacitors was removed from scrub motherboard, for those who could not find a place to buy these just look around on any boards, doesn't have to be a motherboard, as this capacitors as so common. no one...

if you have done connecting it to an external LCD/Monitor and it is not working, then it might be possible that it is a damaged GPU (Graphics Processing Unit).

Can you please give me a choice between these? i am really confused, which is better to buy a Polymer series or just the Low ESR series?
here are some i saw from my local online shop (if it is ok with the admins to Post URL's):

thank you for the response. Ok then this will be a very big advantage for me. I will buy it maybe by tomorrow, but just another question about the ESR, is it ok to buy the ones with 0.045 ohms, or 0.01, i have seen some 0.1 also..the lower the better?? and the tolerance is 10%. is it recommended?? thank you...

sir, is it ok to use the 6.3v or 10v ones?? it doesn't matter? is it like any circuit which the 6.3v is the maximum it can handle? i am confused because in my area they only sell the 6.3v ones..i cannot find anymore 2.5v 330uf tantalum caps here..your response is so much appreciated

and what is the difference between the 330e75 and 330e3N?? thanks....

good evening sir, is using the 330uf tantalum 6.3V is ok with this one?? i could not find any other 2.5V tantalum capacitors here in my area..and if i order online they sell them on a minimum orders only and the shipment fee is more expensive than the capacitor...

thanks boss...i will try to find some capacitors online..as my area doesn't have electronics shops selling the SMD tantalum capacitors..but can I check/test if my NEC/TOKIN capacitance is not as good as it was?? as i see the place of the NEC/TOKIN is hard to test using a multitester..how can i check the capacitance since it's under the CPU??

thank you for that wonderful response..
so you guess the problem is the same with what this thread is about?? the solution here might help me?? and about your statement on adding as much capacitance as i can, should I reach higher than the NEC/TOKIN capacitance?? is it ok? to even reach 2000uf with a 2.5v capacitors?
and one last question if you don't mind, how can i check the capacitance of the NEC/Token while it is on-board? thank you so much...

thanks for the response,, i will check the soldering tomorrow since my examinations are finished. what i meant is 1month ago the problem was 100% same as what is posted in this thread, but when i changed the bios settings the laptop run in battery mode, then i tried to clean it (clean the fan, change all thermal pastes, etc) then it will turn on on AC mode "without the battery" but for 5-10seconds maybe....

  • Re: Toshiba Satellite - Locks up when plugged in

if it has cold solder joints, it wont charge right?? but i am already charging it at the moment..2weeks ago the problem was the exact problem as this thread leads to. when i plug the AC it will freeze and shutdown, but after i have changed the settings in the BIOS/CMOS to (i think it was much like "multi core function" i disabled it so it is running on a single core) then the 2nd one (its much like "high frequency function or something like that" which when set to ALWAYS LOW will lower the power consumption of...

i've already checked it..it looks fine externally (i mean internally),,now i am using the AC jack plugged, but done a trick for this laptop, i have noticed that if the processor is on a stand-by mode (like just in the desktop and the user is not doing anything) then it will HANG/Display many different colors on the screen, but i tried making the CPU busy (i run the anti-virus scan just to make the CPU busy and processing) it runs fine, but it depends sometimes it runs for 10mins, sometimes for 30mins, sometimes for an...

I have a toshiba L200 which have the same problem..but if i run it in single core mode it will run on a battery without AC plugged in, and with 2 cores running i can't open the windows even in battery mode..at first I had it running and when i plug in the AC it will shutdown or hang..but now i can still charge it (when already in Windows) for some minutes then it will hang..or sometimes if there is too many applications running it will charge until 98% and shutdown, is the solution above is also good for me?? please i need your help.....
